MOLINE, Ill. (October 1, 2013) - The Quad City Mallards have signed centers Gergo Nagy and Gabriel Levesque, the Mallards announced today.

Nagy, 23, has already played six games this season in the MOL Liga- which consists of teams in Slovakia, Hungary and Romania- for Slovak club HK Nove Zamky.  He produced one goal and nine assists in those six outings.

"Gergo is a very good-sized centerman who skates well and is a really good playmaker and goal scorer," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski.  "With his size and experience in pro leagues in Europe, we look forward to him having a great season with us and being a player we can count on."

A native of Dunaujvaros, Hungary, Nagy last season played in his homeland with Miskolci Jegesmedve JSE, for whom he ripped off 16 goals and 42 assists for 58 points in 38 games.  Nagy first joined Miskolci Jegesmedve JSE midway through the 2011-12 campaign after spending the prior three and a half seasons with Szekesfehervar, a Hungarian club in the Austrian Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.  Nagy also played for the Hungarian national team at the 2009, 2010 and 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships.

Levesque, 23, last season scored nine goals and totaled 31 points in 65 games with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder.  The 5' 6", 160-pound Levesque broke into professional hockey with the Thunder in 2012-13, scoring nine times and notching 23 points in 26 games.

"Gabriel is a smaller center who is quick, smart and sees the ice very well," said Ruskowski.  "He's a great playmaker who in his last year in the Quebec [Major Junior Hockey] League was second in scoring."

Levesque played four seasons in the QMJHL.  The Montreal product capped off his junior career in 2010-11 with a superlative season that saw him play 68 games with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and lead the league in assists (70) and finish tied for ninth in goals (37) in addition to finishing second in point scoring (107).  Levesque, who spent his first three junior campaigns with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, recorded 78 goals, 167 assists and 245 points in 253 career QMJHL games.  He helped Rouyn-Noranda to a first overall finish and a berth in the President's Cup Finals in 2007-08 and to a Western Division title in 2009-10.

The Mallards will open their seventeenth season- and their fourth in the CHL- when they host the Rapid City Rush on Saturday night, October 19 at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets for the season opener and all other Mallards regular season home games are now on sale at Ticketmaster outlets, through ticketmaster.com, through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000 or at the iWireless Center ticket office.  The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.

MOLINE, Ill. (September 25, 2013) - The Quad City Mallards today announced their 2013-14 promotional schedule, a slate headlined by the return of $1 Beer/$1 Dog Fridays presented by 97X and MetroLINK, a pair
of Genesis game worn jersey auctions, the introduction of Winning Wednesdays presented by T.G.I. Friday's, a Terry Ruskowski bobblehead giveaway and a special appearance by Duck Dynasty's Mountain Man.  The Mallards, in conjunction with the iWireless Center, today further announced the introduction of an array of iWireless Center concession offerings new for the 2013-14 season detailed in the attached document.

Each of the Mallards' 11 Friday night home games will again this season be $1 Beer/$1 Dog Fridays presented by 97X and MetroLINK.  The return of this popular promotion provides fans with the chance to purchase $1 beer and $1 hot dogs during each of those Friday evening contests, starting with the Mallards' November 1 match-up with the St. Charles Chill.

Winning Wednesdays presented by T.G.I. Friday's will no doubt also prove exceedingly popular.  If the Mallards win a Wednesday night home game, all fans attending that contest will receive a free ticket to the next Wednesday home game.  Another Wednesday victory in succession would mean all in attendance again win free tickets for yet another Wednesday tilt.  It would be possible, if the Mallards were to go 7-0 at home on Wednesdays, for fans who attended the first of the seven Wednesday contests- January 8 against the Brampton Beast- to receive free tickets for each of the following six.

Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase $2 hot dogs and beer during each of those Wednesday evening games.  After each Wednesday game, fans are encouraged to join the Mallards for a post-game party at T.G.I. Friday's adjacent to the iWireless Center.

The Mallards once again will team with Genesis Health System for a pair of game worn jersey auctions to benefit the Genesis Health Services Foundation.  On Saturday, January 11, the Mallards will celebrate their affiliation with the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild by wearing special limited addition jerseys modeled on those worn by the Wild in the Mallards' meeting with the Arizona Sundogs.  Those one-of-a-kind jerseys will go up for bid in a live auction immediately following that game.  A second game-worn jersey auction will follow on March 8 when the Mallards again host Arizona.  Auction winners will not be the only fans leaving the iWireless Center with Mallards jerseys after those two games.  The first 1,000 fans 12 and under to arrive on January 11 will receive free Mallards youth replica jerseys courtesy of the Scott County Family Y and Two Rivers YMCA.  The first 1,000 children 12 and under through the gates on March 8 will also receive free youth replica jerseys.

Bobblehead Night, a traditional Mallard favorite, returns when the Mallards tussle with the Rapid City Rush on Saturday, February 15.  The first 1,000 fans through the doors for that game will receive free Terry Ruskowski bobbleheads.  Ruskowski, who is entering his second season as the Mallards' coach, is not only one of the winningest bench bosses in Central Hockey League history but also skated in 999 career games while captaining four teams- including the Chicago Blackhawks- over a 15-year playing career in the NHL and World Hockey Association.

One duck dynasty will collide with another when, courtesy of Genesis Health System, Mountain Man- otherwise known as Tim Guraedy- of A&E's hugely popular reality series Duck Dynasty, comes to the Quad Cities for the Mallards' battle with the Beast on Saturday, March 1.

The Mallards will also host a series of promotions to benefit those in need.  On Saturday, November 2, when the Mallards take on Brampton, the club will partner with Operation Christmas Child.  Fans who bring new school supplies, children's clothing, small toys and wrapped hard candy to that game will receive a discount on their tickets.  The items donated will be distributed by Operation Christmas Child to children in need around the world.

The Mallards will recognize those who have served in the armed forces with Military Appreciation Night when the team plays its last home game before Veterans' Day on Saturday, November 9 against the Denver Cutthroats.  All current and former members of the military and their families will be able to purchase tickets to that game for just $5.

One of hockey's unique traditions, the Teddy Bear Toss, will make its annual return to the iWireless Center on Saturday, November 30 when the Mallards do battle with the Tulsa Oilers.  Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped stuffed animals to that game and throw them on the ice immediately after the Mallards' first goal.  Those teddy bears will then be donated to children in need in the Quad Cities area just in time for the holidays.

The Mallards will again join in the spirit of the holiday season by accepting Toys for Tots donations at their games against Brampton on Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8.  Fans will receive $3 off a ticket to either of those games for each new toy they donate at the iWireless Center.

Two weeks later, the Mallards will team with Great Clips to benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Western Illinois and Eastern Iowa.  Great Clips stylists will provide haircuts for fans attending the Saturday, December 21 match-up between the Mallards and Chill throughout that game.  All proceeds from the cost of those haircuts will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.  Also on December 21, the Mallards will help fans prepare for the onset of winter by giving away Mallards knit caps to the first 1,000 patrons to enter the iWireless Center.

On Saturday, March 1, Cobham Mission Systems will present Blades For Grades when the Mallards square off with Brampton.  Local elementary and middle school honor roll students will be rewarded for their achievements by receiving free tickets to that game courtesy of Cobham Mission Systems.

The Mallards will conclude the campaign on a high.  The second to last home date of the regular season- Saturday, March 22- is John Deere Community Night.  Courtesy of John Deere, fans will be able to purchase tickets to the Mallards' clash with the Missouri Mavericks at a significant discount.  On Sunday, March 30, the Mallards will close out the season- again against Missouri- by offering their thanks to the fans of the Quad Cities on Fan Appreciation Night.   The March 30 game, like the Mallards' other Sunday game- December 8 against Brampton- will also see all fans in attendance receive a voucher good for a free bag of popcorn.

Further promotions for the 2013-14 season will be announced in the weeks to come; the promotional schedule is subject to change.

The Mallards will open their seventeenth season- and their fourth in the CHL- when they host the Rapid City Rush on Saturday night, October 19.  Mallards 2013-14 season tickets as well as half season tickets and flex packs are now on sale.  The Mallards offer ticket packages to meet any budget and season ticket holders also receive a host of additional benefits, including a unique season ticket holder Mallards jersey.  More ticket package information is available by calling the Mallards at 309-277-1364 or emailing info@myqcmallards.com.

MOLINE, Ill. (September 16, 2013) - The Quad City Mallards have signed forward Jordan Lane, the Mallards announced today.

"We needed a big, physical presence on our team and Jordan can provide that," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski.  "I actually first talked to Jordan last year but he decided he needed to work on his conditioning.  Two years ago, when he reported to camp [with the ECHL's Elmira Jackals] he thought he was in good condition but now we know he's in great condition.  Jordan knows what he has to do to help the team.  He's going to make the rest of our guys feel like they're three inches taller and he can play in front of the net."

Lane, a 6' 8", 240-pound 24-year old, last season scored two goals and added two assists while collecting 110 penalty minutes in 19 games with Portage College in Lac La Biche, Alberta.

Forward Back for Second Season After Standout Rookie Campaign

MOLINE, Ill. (September 9, 2013) - The Quad City Mallards have re-signed forward Mike Stinziani, the Mallards announced today.

"Mike was a big part of our team last year and is going to be an even bigger part this year," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski.  "He can score goals, he's strong on the power play and he's got great speed.  We're banking on his talent, credibility and character and we're going to count on him even more this year"

Stinziani, 24, finished last season second among Central Hockey League rookies in goals (26), tied for second among first year players in points (51) and fourth among rookies in assists (25).  He was also the Mallards' second leading goal scorer and finished third on the team in point scoring.

The Montreal native completed his first professional campaign on a high note when he was named CHL Second Star for the month of March after scoring seven goals and totaling twelve points while helping propel the Mallards to a league-best 11-2-0 record in March.

The 5' 9", 205-pound Stinziani joined the Mallards after scoring 12 goals, picking up 31 assists and producing 43 points in 27 games with Concordia University in Montreal in 2011-12.  He finished third nationwide in both assists and points in what was his second university season.  For his efforts, Stinziani was named to the 2011-12 Ontario University Athletics East second all-star team.  Stinziani first took the ice for the Stingers in 2010-11, scoring eight goals and ringing up 17 points in just a dozen games.

Stinziani headed to Concordia after spending five seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.  He scored 58 times and recorded 148 points in 269 career junior games with the Gatineau Olympiques, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Prince Edward Island Rocket.   In 2008 Stinziani helped the Olympiques to the QMJHL President's Cup title.

(March 21, 2012) - The Quad City Mallards and Club 9 Sports- the Mallards' ownership group- have entered into a 10-year license agreement with the Central Hockey League, making the Mallards a CHL member for the next decade, the Mallards announced today in conjunction with the CHL.

"We are delighted to have entered into this long-term agreement with the CHL.  After years of uncertainty about league affiliation, it is nice for our fans to know we have a long-term home in a well-managed league," said John Prutch, managing partner of Prometheus Capital Partners, parent company of Club 9 Sports.  "We appreciate the support of the i wireless Center, the Quad Cities community and especially the season ticket holders and corporate sponsors who have remained committed to seeing the Mallards survive and revitalize."

The Mallards are closing in on the finish of their second CHL season, competing in the league under the terms of a joint agreement between the CHL and the International Hockey League that was put in place in the summer of 2010 for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.  The Mallards and three other clubs- the Dayton Gems, Fort Wayne Komets and the Evansville IceMen- are currently operating in the CHL under that agreement.

"This is truly exciting news for our fans.  We're happy to be committed to the CHL," said Mallards executive vice president Ryan Simmons.  "It's another exciting development for us as an organization after the successes we've seen on and off the ice this season- attendance has increased by 14 percent and last weekend we reached 3.5 million in all-time attendance for Mallards hockey.  On top of that, of course, is the success the team has enjoyed on the ice this season."

The Mallards already this season have won more games (35) and totaled more standings points (72) than they have in any season since 2006-07.  The Mallards have used an aggressive, attacking style of play to become the second highest scoring team in the league.  The team's high-powered offense has been keyed by Brandon Marino, a finalist for the CHL Most Valuable Player award and a member of the All-CHL Team.  Marino scored in the Mallards' game last night in Dayton to become the first player in the league this season- and the first Mallard since 2006-07- to reach 40 goals.  In addition to leading the league in goals, Marino also ranks second in points (87) and has recorded more points this year than any Mallard has since 2004-05.

"This is a very good day for the Mallards organization, the team's fans and the CHL," said CHL commissioner Duane Lewis.  "The steps taken to reinvigorate the market in the Quad Cities by Club 9 Sports have brought back the excitement of years past for the Mallards and their following.  We are excited for the future of the team and their place within the CHL."

The CHL is nearing the conclusion of its twentieth anniversary season.  The league's regular season ends next Sunday, March 25, with the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup playoffs to follow beginning next week.  Before transitioning to the CHL in 2010, the Mallards competed in the United Hockey League from 1995 through 2007 and in the IHL in 2009-10.

The Mallards play their final regular season game Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Bloomington Blaze at the i wireless Center.  The first 1,000 fans through the doors for Saturday's regular season finale will receive free 2011-12 Mallards player card sets.  An auction of game-worn Mallards jerseys will immediately follow Saturday evening's game.

Fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com for more information about tickets for Saturday night's game.
