Being a native of the area, and have just recently moved back. I can see the beauty of the Mark Twain idea. And the regional resistance to it. I think at the heart of Mr. Carmody's idea, is to make "Mark Twain" the Athens of the Mid-West. This is a great idea to expanding and growing the Mark Twain area. Shows just how valuable Carmody was to the growth of the Rock Island area. It all starts with vision and great ideas and he had them both.
