Revitalizing the riverfront is a big step that needs to be done very carefully so that people for many years to come can enjoy it. I am glad that our city leaders chose to get the public's input rather than design it themselves behind closed doors. We need to make this area a large park with many things to do - similar to central park in New York. We need to bulldoze everything between the dam and the ballpark except the band shell. That means the Dock, The Freight house, the old train station, and all the parking lots. Make people use the new garages and skywalk. Put in a conveyor like at airports, maybe a tram system from there. Put in trees, winding trails, picnic areas, a pond, places for food vendors. To avoid flooding, either design a levee that rises with the water or raise the ground with soil. It can be done. People don't need to see the river while driving down river drive in that area. - PE Dave
