what about stand-up comedians? (basically sour grapes)

How come no stand-up comedians made the top comedians in the qc? Those are all improv guys. yeah they're funny but i would have looked at some of the local stand-up guys as well.

Best bands

There's a ton of talent in the QC, with some great bands out there, playing all the time to great crowds....yet the top 2 best bands only played a small handful of times this year between the two of them, and they seem to win year after year. Sigh.... - Music lover

It's obvious that next year, they need to add "Best Drag Show", "Best Makeout Spot to Get Impregnated" and "Best Weed Hook-Up". To be fair, also "Best QC Minority Group to Blame For World's Problems", "Best Gun Show", and "Most Likely to Get Into Heaven". - Cindy Lou Hoo

This was really interesting. I like the actor part (my dad is on the list :) But other than that, it was nice to see stuff about the Quad Cities I hadn't really thought about before. - Myka

All of the categories are for everyone. Just because something doesn't concern you, you're not going to read the paper anymore!? Wow! If one of the categories doesn't apply to you or you're not interested in it, skip it...duh! Good Job RCR! I want more categories next time!...It's so fun reading the winners but it goes too fast...Have a good day all... - Deb W.

Where are the women????

i don't dispute the results of the acting category -- anyone who has seen eddie staver on the stage knows we are lucky to have him in our midst (and I keep wondering for how much longer...he's good enough for the big city venues...) but why is there one category for men and women? anybody seen kim furness burn it up on the stage? how about dee canfield? I could go on with other names...but this is disappointing. there is a plethora of talent from both genders and it's too bad there wasn't a category for both. - angela elliott

The gay population in this community should not be discluded just because conservative, small minded fools like yourself choose to ignore or shun them. The paper is written for all of us in the Quad Cities to enjoy not just small minded fools. - M. Ferguson

Truly Not Necessary

I don't visit day spas or buy antiques, so those categories are TRULY NOT NECESSARY. RC Reader, I am so shock and appalled that you put in that stuff, I am never going to read anything ever again, because my simple brain can't understand that the world doesn't revolve around me and my interests! - Concerned Quad-Citian

Here we go again, in response to the Ormsby comment---Conservatives: I'm sorry to inform you of this but gay culture is not going to ruin the idea that you have of a "perfect world." It's ignorant, judging, and close minded people like you who will truly bring about this world's demise. - Riley

I too really enjoy finding out what is chosen "Best in the Quad Cities" but I was extremely disappointed to see that you had a category for "Venue for Karaoke". I mean, now we all feel compelled to indulge our curiousities and TRY KARAOKE. So many amatuers are now going to be forced on-stage to sing! And, you know Karaoke is Japanese, right?! Why does the River Cities Reader hate America so much? - Devin Hansen

I really enjoy finding out what is chosen "Best In The Quad Cities" but I was extremely disappointed to see that you had a category for "Gay Bar". The majority of Quad Citians would find it truly not necessary. It's my choice to no longer read your circular in the future. - Kelly Ormsby
