Chris, the question posed by Jeff was specific to "medical" marijuana. Your comments are about marijuana usage and criminalization of that record. The questions about legalizing "Mary Jane" through proper venues such as the courts or the legislature is a valid argument that should be taken up. My opposition to medical marijuana is that it is a back door attempt to avoid that discussion. A argument that compares and contrast alcohol consumption to pot use is the strongest I have heard for legalization. I am a West-ender and sadly I smell marijuana walking to my car and at almost every bar I campaign at. - Mark J Riley

To: Cindy Winckler, Democratic state representative, District 86

Cindy, the "more research" answer is a cop out for someone who doesn't want to give a controversial answer. Medical Cannabis has been studied by humans for 10,000 years.

Shawn Hamerlinck, Mark J. Riley - both Republicans, I have a question for you:

Our last three Presidents (Clinton, Bush, Obama) all smoked marijuana at some point in their lives. Should we continue to keep public records of simple marijuana possession arrests for decades so that those who smoked marijuana at some point in their lives and WERE ARRESTED can be screened by potential employers in even the most menial jobs for the rest of their lives?

Ray Ambrose, Republican candidate for state representative, District 86

Mr. Ambrose you truly represent the less government approach that The Republican Party pays lip service to but never really seems to follow. I believe that you vote your conscience and not fear of offending some voters who don't truly understand the consequences of criminalizing a large part of the American population. I would vote for you if I lived in your district. I will encourage those that live in your district to vote for you.

Hamerlinck hit the nail on the head; court ordered drug treatment is the leading cause of marijuana related treatment admissions. Just another industry that is using the force of law to line their pockets. Enough reefer madness; caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco are the real gateway drugs. Those of us who supported Hammerlink as a liberty minded individual have been duped, he is just brown nosing the neocon corporate establishment. - Jim Getman
