I was just told to make sure I say the chorus guy we really liked was the bald one even tho he didn't look like a hippie. I know not all hippies had long hair, but it just felt weird.
And I think Judas was played to simple. Just pissy. She always seemed annoyed. I forgot he was friends with Jesus ever. Judas was the kid no one ever liked so I felt like we were watching a two people that always hated each other...instead of watching two friends falling out of love. BUT, it still worked! And Sara Speight belted it out so hard. Amazing! - Jezebel

I agree with so many points in this review, I still have to say that Harrison still put on one heck of a show. I liked the more human therefore sometimes angry Jesus vs the humble & holy stereotype. But I do have to say that the chorus needs fine tuning. There aer some new faces in the chorus I don't know. Maybe they're new to theater and hopefully will learn more acting skills. The others...I don't know their names...there was one guy that my friend and I liked a lot but mostly the guys looked confused a lot. And I think there are so many moments where yeah...was there choreography and everyone forgot it? Eric Reyes...I didn't like him at all in Sweeney Todd...was a ton better. Shelley Walljasper is a delite as always. Joe Mauback and John Vandewoestyne and Jenny Winn can sing in any show I see! And then many of the other main characters were good to. And I agree, the singing is awesome. I have seen lots and lots of shows at Harrison in Davenport and love just about everything they have to offer. This show was a little let down and half-a$$ed. No clear creative vision. Maybe it sounds weird but I still really love this show and still was moved. - Jezebel

As I do respect several things in this review, there is one thing I must get off my chest:

The story of Jesus and Judas becomes dynamically strong given the variants that might occur within interpretation. Had Jesus consistently been biblically written as the underdog lined with sadness and despair, fantastic tales would've never been written about him; let alone a musical. It would be boring. "A man aware of his ultimately sacrificial role" wouldn't "poor me" around his followers and friends. To give your lifelong message meaning, ink it with exposing, irascible truth.

Furthermore, the anger that plays into Judas' emotions are rightfully there and (fully exposed) would shine a glimmer to a much more sinister engagement. Also, Webber and Rice's Judas could definitely use a good dose of gender-bending. A female Judas attaches a much different, yet equally effective view within both sides of a cross-gendered betrayal.

I do not believe we should be so immediately deterred with a Bible of heavenly, simply graceful theme. More so a book of conflict and despair, anger and forgiveness. Leave it up for interpretation and let the story affect you in your specific way.

Keep it coming, Hilltop! You folks are offering groundbreaking work to the QC! - Meddy B.
