Transformers: Age of ExtinctionGoing to the cineplex this weekend? Every Friday morning at 9 a.m. you can listen to Mike Schulz dish on recent movie releases & talk smack about Hollywood celebs on the Quad City Rocker ROCK 104-9FM, with the fabulous morning team of Rock1049.com. The morning crew previews upcoming releases, too.

Or you can check the Reader Web site and listen to their latest conversation by the warm glow of your computer.

Never miss a pithy comment from these three scintillating pundits again.

Friday, June 27, 2014: Discussion of "Jersey Boys" and "Think Like a Man Too," and a preview of "Transformers: Age of Extinction," the clip for which has Mark Wahlberg's vehicle talking -- talking -- about the Autobots, and Wahlberg then coming to the conclusion that the vehicle might be a Transformer. Can't pull nothin' over on Mark.

Friday, June 20, 2014: After a Friday in which Dave was in Florida and Mike was at the DMV (no points guessing who had the better time), the guys return for a discussion of "22 Jump Street," "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "The Fault in Our Stars," and "Edge of Tomorrow," and previews of "Think Like a Man Too" and "Jersey Boys," the latter of which features a clip of Christopher Walken saying, "A voice like yours is a gift from God." Well, Walken would know.

Friday, June 6, 2014: Previews of "Edge of Tomorrow" and "The Fault in Our Stars." And brief recaps of Mike's reactions to "Maleficent" and "A Million Ways to Die in the West" because, as was presumed last week, there really was nothing else to talk about.

Friday, May 30, 2014: Discussion of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Blended," and "Chef," and previews of "Maleficent" and "A Million Ways to Die in the West" -- and discussion of "Maleficent" and "A Million Ways to Die in the West," as Mike caught actually both new releases on Thursday night. Great. So now, what the hell are the guys gonna talk about next week?

Friday, May 23, 2014: Discussion of "Godzilla" and "Million Dollar Arm," and previews of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Blended." As Darren asks, regarding the latter title: If these are the projects Adam Sandler chooses to appear in, can you imagine the quality of the scripts he turns down?

Friday, May 16, 2014: After a shameless plug for Mike's production of "True West," which opens tonight (and runs through June 1... hey, there's another shameless plug!), discussion of "Neighbors," "Under the Skin," "Moms' Night Out," and "Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return," and previews of "Million Dollar Arm" and "Godzilla." Does anyone else think, in the audio clip, that Bryan Cranston sounds an awful lot like Harrison Ford in his growly "Stay away from my wife!!!" mode?

Friday, May 9, 2014: We pop into the show two minutes in progress, but there's still discussion of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," an audio-clip-free preview of "Under the Skin," and audio-clip-full previews of "Neighbors," "Moms' Night Out," and "Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return" -- the latter of which seems like such an awful movie that it gets two clips. All this, plus a "Neighbors"-inspired game of "If someone was throwing a Robert De Niro party, which character would you come as?" Good times.

Friday, May 2, 2014: Discussion of "Brick Mansions," "The Other Woman," and "The Quiet Ones," and a preview of the action-packed, sure-to-be-a-blockbuster "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," the clip for which is a riveting, dare we say pulse-pounding scene of ... Peter and Gwen whispering in a closet. Welcome to summer, folks!

Friday, April 25, 2014: After taking Good Friday off, the guys return with previews of "The Other Woman," "Brick Mansions," and "The Quiet Ones," and discussion of "Transcendence," "Draft Day," "Oculus," "Heaven Is for Real," "A Haunted House 2," and "Rio 2" -- the latter of which Mike almost fails to mention, while completely failing to mention seeing "Bears" and "Mysteries of the Unseen World," too. Darren suggests that Mike should maybe prep for these segments once in a while. Mike finds it hard to disagree.

Friday, April 11, 2014: Discussion of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and "Veronica Mars," and previews of "Draft Day," "Oculus," and "Rio 2" -- the latter of which boasts a Bruno Mars song that has at least three false endings (one of which Darren totally falls for), each funnier than the last.

Friday, April 4, 2014: Discussion of "Noah," "Bad Words," and "Sabotage," previews -- sans audio clips -- of "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and "Veronica Mars," and a preview -- audio clip included -- of "Captain America: The Winter Solider." An audio clip that doesn't feature Captain America, but that does come with a nice plug for Iron Man. Even in a plug for his own movie, Chris Evans gets overshadowed by Robert Downey Jr.

Friday, March 28, 2014: Discussion of "Muppets Most Wanted," "Divergent," "Need for Speed," and "Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club," and previews of "Noah," "Bad Words," and "Sabotage." The latter starring former Governor Schwarzenegger, who, the guys agree, should really just change his name to McBain and be done with it.

Friday, March 14, 2014: Discussion of "300: Rise of an Empire" and "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," and previews of "Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club" (albeit with no audio, because really, what's the point?) and "Need for Speed." And Dave chides Darren and Mike for the cracks made at his expense when he was gone last week. So at least someone is out there listening.

Friday, March 7, 2014: With Dave enjoying a morning off, Darren and Mike discuss "Non-Stop" and "Son of God," preview "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" and "300: Rise of an Empire," and do a postmortem on Sunday's Oscar ceremony ... all in under ten minutes. See how much time is saved when Darren's co-host isn't there doing Liam Neeson impressions?! (Kidding, David. You know you're loved.)

Friday, February 28, 2014: After a Friday off, discussion of "Pompeii," "RoboCop," "About Last Night," "Endless Love," "3 Days to Kill," and "Winter's Tale," previews of "Non-Stop" and "Son of God," and quick Oscars predictions at the end. Mike thinks Lupita Nyong'o for Supporting Actress. If you asked him later that evening, he would have switched over to June Squibb, but the damned predictions are in print, so there's no turning back now... .

Friday, February 14, 2014: Discussion of "The Lego Movie," "The Momuments Men," and "Vampire Academy," and previews of the '80s trifecta "RoboCop," "About Last Night," and "Endless Love," the latter of which puts all three guys firmly on the side of Bruce Greenwood, who plays the lead's unsympathetic, mean, hateful father, and sounds, to them, like a perfectly reasonable man.

Friday, February 7, 2014: After an appreciation of the gone-far-too-soon Philip Seymour Hoffman, discussion of "Labor Day," "That Awkward Moment," and "All Is Lost," previews of "The Lego Movie," "Vampire Academy," and "The Monuments Men," and the guys' pitch for a really great-sounding movie: A comedy -- maybe starring Bill and Ted? -- in which time travelers convince a young Adolph Hitler that his artwork is actually sensational, thereby changing the future for the much, much better.

Friday, January 31, 2014: Discussion of "I, Frankenstein" and "Gimme Shelter," previews of "That Awkward Moment" and "Labor Day," and an audio-free preview of the Robert Redford drama "All Is Lost," which leads to jokes about Propecia and Marty Allen. Who says these guys aren't hip?!

Friday, January 24, 2014: Discussion of "Ride Along," "The Nut Job," "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," and "Devil's Due," discussion and an audio-free preview of "Nebraska," and previews of "I, Frankenstein" and "Gimme Shelter," the latter followed by Dave's spirited reenactment of the clip. Vanessa Hudgens, eat your heart out.

Friday, January 17, 2014: Reactions to yesterday's Oscar nominations (with a clip of Thor announcing the Best Picture nomineees), discussion of "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Her," and "August: Osage County," and previews of "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," "Ride Along," "Devil's Due," and "The Nut Job" -- all four of which Mike plans to knock out in a consecutive eight hours today. Nut job, indeed.

Friday, January 10, 2014: Discussion of "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" and "47 Ronin," discussion and an audio preview of "Lone Survivor," verbal previews of "August: Osage County" and "Inside Llewyn Davis," and a snippet from "The Legend of Hercules" ... all six seconds of it. It's the clip so nice they play it twice!

Friday, January 3, 2014: Discussion of "The Wolf of Wall Street," "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," "Saving Mr. Banks," "Grudge Match," and "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," and a preview of "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones." Yup. The first new release of the year is a sequel. The line for the abjectly shocked forms at the rear. Happy 2014, folks!

Friday, December 20, 2013: On the guys' last segment of 2013, they preview Saving Mr. Banks and Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, discuss The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas, and preview and discuss American Hustle and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Prepare to want to listen to that last clip a few times over-- Steve Carell kills it. Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!

Friday, December 6, 2013: After a Friday off, the guys are back to preview Out of the Furnace, and discuss -- deep breath -- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Frozen, Delivery Man, Dallas Buyers Club, Enough Said, Homefront, The Book Thief, Philomena, and Black Nativity. And what'd you do on your Thanksgiving vacation?

Friday, November 22, 2013: Discussion of 12 Years a Slave and The Best Man Holiday, and previews of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (with audio), Dallas Buyers Club (with no audio), and Delivery Man (with brief audio of Vince Vaughn -- clearly on the interview circuit -- attemtping to rationalize his participation in yet another high-concept comedy whose trailers make it look unbearable). No show next week -- Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Friday, November 15, 2013: Discussion of Thor: The Dark World, About Time, and the Putnam Museum's Jerusalem, and previews of 12 Years a Slave (albeit with no audio) and The Best Man Holiday. If the latter is even half as entertaining as Dave's and Darren's version of it, crowds are gonna go nuts.

Friday, November 8, 2013: Discussion of Ender's Game, Free Birds, and Last Vegas (with particular mention of the continuing awesomeness of Mary Steenbergen), and previews of Thor: The Dark World and About Time. The poster for the latter is an image of Rachel McAdams in the rain. Dave doesn't play a clip from it. It's a Rachel-McAdams-in-the-rain movie.

Friday, November 1, 2013: Discussion of Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa and The Counselor, and previews of Ender's Game, Last Vegas, and Free Birds. Plus an audio montage of Harrison Ford's greatest scenes of yelling, and a shameless plug for Last Call, the new musical Mike's directing that runs through November 17. Well, look at that. Another shameless plug.

Friday, October 25, 2013: Discussion of Carrie, Escape Plan, and The Fifth Estate, and previews of The Counselor and Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. Cormac McCarthy and Johnny Knoxville being repeatedly bent in half by an adjustable bed? Promising weekend.

Friday, October 18, 2013: Discussion of Captain Phillips and Machete Kills, and previews of Escape Plan, The Fifth Estate, and the latest Carrie. Mike admits that he's looking forward to that latter title ... though perhaps not as much as he'd look forward to Darren's suggested remake starring the current Price Is Right host: Carey.

Friday, October 11, 2013: Discussion of Gravity (again), Runner Runner, Metallica Through the Never, Grace Unplugged, and Generation Iron, and previews of Captain Phillips and Machete Kills. But the guys actually spend most of their time talking about the legendarily awful local disaster flick Megafault and the impending Sharknado follow-up Avalanche Sharks. Really, can you blame them?

Friday, October 4, 2013: Discussion of Rush, Don Jon, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and Baggage Claim, a preview of Runner Runner, and a preview and discussion of Gravity, which Mike caught during a Thursday-night screening. Quote: "You have to see it." Making his inevitable hundreds of words about the experience in review form utterly superfluous.

Friday, September 27, 2013: Discussion of Prisoners and Battle of the Year, and previews of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Don Jon, and Rush. The guys' segment actually starts at the halfway point of the .mp3, and, unfortunately, gets cut off about two minutes before the actual end of their chat (hence no Baggage Claim preview here), but still ... seven-and-a-half minutes of bliss!

Friday, September 20, 2013: Discussion of The Family and Insidious: Chapter 2, and previews of Prisoners, Battle of the Year, and the re-release of The Wizard of Oz. What a wo-o-o-or-r-rld! What a wo-o-o-or-r-rld! (Seriously. That's the clip they play. It's as much fun as you remember.)

Friday, September 13, 2013: That's right! After an almost-two-year Reader-site hiatus, the boys are finally back online with reactions to Riddick and The Ultimate Life, and previews of Insidious: Chapter 2 and The Family. Yeah. They wish more exciting movies were being discussed, too.
