ACT-SO identifies student’s unique talents, provides them with mentoring and coaching opportunities to perfect their talents and skills. It. allows them to test their skills against their peers in local and national competitions. Sponsored by the Davenport NAACP Branch with an objective to recruit, stimulate, improve and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students, allowing each person to showcase their talent. ACT-SO to start this month. Other upcoming events:

Friday, September 18, 2009 Press Conference with Ako Abdul Samad, State Representative - Des Moines. Time: 6:00 PM. at One Eleven Restaurant.


Saturday, September 19, 2009 The “N” Word – Panel and audience will share an open discussion on the language of hate, a pertinent dialogue. 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. One Eleven Restaurant.
