Tuesday, February 05, 2008FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Rock Island, IL Afro-American Heritage Center Announces First Annual Benefit Members of the Afro-American Heritage Center, a 501 (c)3 organization founded in June of 2006, announces its first Annual Benefit, Saturday February 23, at 6:00 p.m. at the historic Watch Tower Lodge located at 1510 46th avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. The office of the AAHC is located in Rock Island.
The Mission of the AAHC is to promote the appreciation of the Afro-American experience through education, special events and charitable activities. Ultimately, the knowledge gained through the study of history contributes to the educational and social betterment of all people. This benefit is open to the public and light refreshments will be served. The requested donation is $10. In addition to the opportunity to meet board members and learn of the direction of the organization, the guest speaker for the benefit is Mr. Johnny Brown, the owner/operator of the Freedom Trail Tours of Savannah Georgia. Mr. Brown is also associated with the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum of Savannah.
