Taped in November at Augustana College
MOLINE, ILLINOIS – WQPT, the Quad Cities local public television station and WVIK, the public radio station teamed up to present “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” in November. The stage play by Joe Landry and with music by Kevin Connors is set in a 1946 radio station. It was performed before a live audience for three performances and taped to air on both stations for the holiday season.
WQPT will air the program December 21 and 25 at 7 pm, and WVIK will air it on December 23 at 7 pm.
Funding for the production was made possible by the Illinois Arts Council and the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Directed by WQPT producer, Lora Adams and starring Mike Millar, Jenny Winn, Jason Platt, Erin Lounsberry, Michael Carron, Scott Tunnicliff, Tamra McConoughey, Tom Vaccaro and with Jonathan Turner on piano, the production helped to raise funds for additional episodes of WQPT’s arts program “Artists in Profile.” The first of the additional episodes airs on New Year’s Eve at 11:30 pm with a music special featuring performances by Ellis Kell, Danika Holmes, Ragamon, Barley House Band and the Milltown Wranglers.
WQPT is a media service of Western Illinois University located in Moline, Illinois.
