Discovery Shop to host Annual Holiday Open House Sunday, November 18th, Noon to 4 p.m.

The American Cancer Society's Discovery Shop located at 2397 Cumberland Square Dr. in Bettendorf invites you to their Annual Holiday Open House Sunday, November 18th from noon to 4 pm.

Let us help you with your shopping list and at the same time you can make a difference in the fight against cancer!  The Discovery Shop will be overflowing with all kinds of beautiful holiday clothing, ornaments, collectibles and gift items.  If you are looking for something for yourself or for someone on your list, this is a great place to start.  

The Discovery Shop is an upscale resale shop.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to fund cancer research, patient services, education and advocacy.

The shop will be closed Saturday, November 17th to prepare for this event.

If you have items that you would like to donate for this event, donations are accepted anytime the shop is open and a tax receipt is always available.  Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 5 pm., Thursday from 10 am to 7 pm. and Saturday from10 am to 4 pm.

  • November 10th – Zion Lutheran Church 8th Annual Harvest Feast/Auction/Wine Tasting Princeton Community Center, 4:30-7:00 p.m., sponsored by Zion Lutheran Church in Princeton to benefit Zion 's outreach to local and worldwide needs. Featuring beef stew made with beef from the local Sawyer farms, locally grown potatoes, fresh baked breads, homemade apple sauce, relishes, and desserts, and homemade pies baked by The Women of Joy. $7.50 for adults and $4.00 for children.   • November 14th - MEDIC EMS will be holding free CPR Classes, 9:00 a.m., noon, and 3:00 p.m., MEDIC EMS station, 107 Cody Road , for local LeClaire businesses. With the busy shopping season approaching they would like to make the City of LeClaire a heart safe community. They know from experience and from studies, that people who suffer Cardiac Arrests have a much higher save rate if CPR is started within the first few minutes. If someone has a heart attack, CPR by you or your employees could save someone’s life. The First Presbyterian Church in LeClaire shared: “We feel called to offer a free lunch to anyone in LeClaire, once a month. from 11:30-12:30, at the Civic Center. we are serving macaroni and cheese, fruit, hot dogs and cookies, lemonade, milk and coffee. Anyone, any age, regardless of need is invited. Please help us pass the word. Our next lunch will be Dec. 18.”

Buffalo Bill Museum seeks volunteers to greet visitors or help with other activities. As the weather warms up, the busy tourist season starts. An easy and enjoyable way to meet tourists visiting LeClaire is to volunteer at the Buffalo Bill Museum and River Pilots' Pier. And, if you have handyman, seamstress or other skills. . . we can always use your help, and you set your own hours! This is a great way to help a local nonprofit organization.

LeClaire has an “app!” The LeClaire App is ready for download in the Android Market - if you just type in "LeClaire" or "Visit LeClaire" you will find it. It is still a Beta release, meaning that it is lacking some of its eventual functions but is being continually being updated.
The “Apple App” is also now available, and can be downloaded in the same manner as other applications. Help Feed The Need

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train rolls into Davenport's Florian Keen Parking Lot (W River Dr @ Western St) on Thursday, December 6

Join the community – all in the name of HUNGER. This special decorated Holiday Train will light up the tracks. Once it stops, the door will swing open on the stage car for the Canadian artists to perform.

This is a great way to kick off the holiday season AND help feed the area's hungry. All donations benefit the 24 local food pantries of Churches United.

Admission is a non-perishable food item or cash.

Could your group, business or organization – faith based or not – hold a food drive and bring it to the Holiday Train on the 6th? Be part of the whole community to HELP FEED THE NEED.

For your support all summer long. 

We had a great summer session!

Don'f forget that we are here all winter too!

We truly hope that your summer was as awesome as ours, and we thank you for all of your support during the summer.

Now that the kids are back in school, the leaves are off the trees and the wind is a little brisk its time to huddle up and get through the winter months.  The vendors here at the market will be braving the winter to bring you all your favorite home baked, hand made, locally grown and one of a kind creations that you have enjoyed all summer.

Our winter session kicks off on Saturday November 3rd with the regular hours of 8am to 1pm and Tuesdays from 3pm till 6pm.  We look forward to seeing you and both of us can keep warm with a cup of coffee and maybe a cookie.

Stop by and say “hi” and pick up some great deals while you are here.
