Skeleton Key Art and Antiques begins Farmers Market in Rock Island

ROCK ISLAND – Skeleton Key Art and Antiques is launching a new Sunday farmers’ market on Sunday, Aug. 3. The farmers’ market will be held every Sunday at the Rock Island Skeleton Key Art and Antique location, 520 - 18th St., Rock Island, from noon to 3 p.m.

The farmers’ market will host vendors in Skeleton Key’s parking lot, who will offer fresh, local produce and hand-crafted items. Additional information about the Farmer’s Market can be found on Skeleton Key’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/skeletonkeyfarmersmarket.

Skeleton Key Art and Antiques is an art and antiques store with 5,000 square feet of space featuring 50 vendors with an assortment of art, antiques, furniture, clothing, jewelry and collectibles for sale. The 1890s building was formerly a funeral home.

Skeleton Key Art and Antiques will be open during farmers’ markets. Business hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., with the shop closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

WHAT: Eleventh annual Xstream Cleanup—over 1,300 volunteers will team up to clean up 40 sites in the Quad-Cities area.

WHEN: Saturday, August 9, 2014. 8:30–11:30 a.m. Preliminary results of the cleanup will be provided via e-mail by 3 p.m. Saturday.

WHO: Over 1,300 volunteers of all ages, some working in teams and representing businesses and organizations throughout the Quad-Cities.

 

WHERE: Forty sites are targeted for cleanup.

  • Iowa: Bettendorf, Buffalo, Davenport, LeClaire, McCausland and rural Scott County
  • Illinois: Milan, Moline, Rock Island and Silvis

 

SITES FOR MEDIA: Media are welcome at all sites. Sites are categorized as light duty (general litter pickup and maintenance, good for kids and families); heavy duty (lifting of tires, appliances and other illegally dumped items); invasive plant removal (manually removing invasive trees, shrubs and bushes that take over the habitat of native plants); and storm-drain marking (placing decals on storm drains to discourage dumping). Please come join us for a benefit for Ruben Rangel

In October 2013, Ruben was diagnosed with End Stage Renal failure. Since his diagnosis Ruben has been on dialysis, which he started in Nov. 2013. Since his diagnosis Ruben has been working with Iowa City Hospitals & Clinics to be placed on the kidney transplant list and will undergo kidney transplant surgery.

Ruben has worked for Jacobson Companies for the past 20 years. He was also a basketball official for 11 years in the Quad City area, but due to health, is no longer able to do what he loved most. Ruben will have a long recovery ahead of him. The benefit will be to help with medical expenses.

There will be tacos, tostadas and pulled pork dinners, as well as music, 50/50 raffles and baskets to win. Donations can also be made to IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union in care of: Ruben Rangel Benefit. If you would like to volunteer, please contact:

Early this morning we left the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA for our first ever Divine Mercy Tour! For 33 Days, we will be traveling across the US to not only spread the message of Divine Mercy, but LIVE it! From Massachusetts to California and back again, we are stopping in 10 cities (thanks to the cooperation of local parishes!) for an entire day of ministry and talks to set the world afire with LOVE and MERCY. There are lots of events going on during this time, so be sure to follow us as we make this journey to parishes near you!
