Opening Event Kicks Off With Ribbon Cutting on December 6

(Kansas City, MO – DATE) – Beauty Brands, a one-stop beauty shopping concept, uniting salon brand haircare, prestige skincare and makeup, nail care, bath and body, as well as a full-service salon and spa under one roof, will open its first Davenport, Iowa store on December 6.

Located at the Elmore Marketplace, the new store will open with a ribbon cutting officiated by the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce at 8:00 a.m. On its opening night between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., Beauty Brands will donate 25 percent of proceeds from its new location’s sales to Winnie’s Place, a shelter program that assists women, with or without children, who are homeless or victims of violence. The Quad City Alliance for Immigrants & Refugees (QCAIR) will be holding a Citizenship Fair December 3rd at the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 25 meeting hall, 4600 46th Avenue, Rock Island, IL from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The workshop is designed to provide immigrants and refugees with information on the process of becoming United States citizens.

 

The workshop will be divided into three sessions:

 

First, there will be refugees and immigrants who will be speaking about their experiences and challenges with the citizenship process.

 

Second part will focus on the naturalization process and presentation on the Benefits of naturalization, the Basic requirements for naturalization eligibility, the Application process and fee waivers, how to Handle denials, Bars to naturalization, Seeking a disability waiver.

 

Third part will be question-and-answer period featuring lawyers and other experts, followed by Door Prizes.

 

Elected Officials on attendance include: Rock Island’s Mayor Pauley, Member Council of East Moline Councilman, Gary Westbrook, Rock Island Alderman, Ivory Clark and the representative of Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, Miranda French.

On Friday, November 29th at 7:05 p.m., the Mallards take on the St. Charles Chill with $1 Hot Dog/$1 Beer Night Presented by 97X at the iWireless Center in Moline.   The Teddy Bear Toss will make its annual return when the Mallards do battle with the Tulsa Oilers at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 30th. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped stuffed animals to that game and throw them on the ice immediately after the Mallards' first goal. Winterfest

Lighted Christmas Parade

The 3rd Annual Lighted Christmas Parade will be held Tuesday, December 3rd at 6 p.m. in downtown East Moline. The Parade route is on 15th Avenue from 7th to 10th Streets.  This year's theme is Pets on Parade.  To bring attention to the overcrowded situation at area animal shelters we are collecting financial contributions and supplies to be given to the local shelters.  There will be Children's Activities prior to the Parade along the Parade route including crafts and a Candy Cane Hunt.  Be sure to make time to visit Frosty's Chilly Supper. www.emmainstreet.com

Christmas Tea at Quarters One

Quarters One on Arsenal Island opens for a Christmas Tea & Tour on Sunday, December 8th at 3 p.m. hosted by the Colonel Davenport Historical Foundation.
