Hello!

Summer is in full gear and we're excited to share another round of downtown events and good news with you! Legendary Americana songwriter, John Prine, will be joined by Iris DeMent for an intimate concert at the Adler Theatre this weekend. Buy tickets here and grab a good seat while you can!

The annual Juneteenth festival will be commemorating the end of slavery and celebrating cultural diversity in LeClaire Park on Saturday. Admission is free, and families can enjoy educational programs and fun activities beginning at noon. On Sunday, the LeClaire Park Bandshell will host a free performance featuring jazz tunes by Tewanta & Company.

You might notice some pretty festive outfits and hair throughout downtown this weekend, because the QC Anime-zing! convention just kicked off at the RiverCenter! If you have no clue what this is all about, embrace your inner geek and read this great QC-Times article summarizing the event.

The River Bandits are back home to take on the Peoria Chiefs, and Modern Woodmen Park is also hosting the MWL 2011 All-Star Game and Home Run Derby! All gentlemen dining at the Rhythm City dinner buffer on Father's Day will receive a free tool kit while supplies last. Jordan Danielsen and Lee Blackmon will be playing free concerts at the casino this week, too.

River Music Experience's popular free outdoor concert series, Friday Live at 5, will feature Jim the Mule this week! The 3rd Sunday Jazz workshop and matinee will present Classic Duets featuring Saalik Ziyad & Sarah Marie Young. RME is also hosting Kidz Days and Live Lunch, as well as performances by Rod Kinny, Hello Ramona, The Challenge I Know, Mike Cochrane, and more.

Pack a lunch and spend a Friday at the Figge drawing, painting, creating mixed media, and sculpting! Tonight during Thursdays at the Figge, the docents will lead a discussion regarding the first ever docent-curated exhibition at the museum, Intriguing Images. Attend a Downtown Davenport Architecture Tour or Fashionable Women in Art Tour, and check out the Figge's online silent auction, too.

A national magazine, FamilyCircle, recently published an article highlighting a family in town that has made a very happy home here in Davenport. Many of our best downtown assets are spoken very highly of the in the article, socheck it out! Our newest restaurant, Bowls: Urban Eats, was also featured in a great article this week as well in the QC-Times.

Mark you calendar now for Red, White & Boom! Join us on the downtown Davenport and Rock Island riverfront for FREE family fun Sunday, July 3rd and enjoy a huge fireworks display shot over the Mississippi! There will be a ton of activities and live music including a performance by the QC-Symphony in Centennial Park. It's going to be a blast!
