King’s Harvest wants the poor and homeless children to have a joyful Christmas. The organization is having a Kid’s Christmas Party and Santa will be handing out donated, wrapped gifts to the poor and homeless children. The event will be held on Saturday, December 15th at King’s Harvest located at 824 W. 3rd Street in Downtown Davenport at 9:00 am. The event will be for approximately 150 poor and homeless children.

King’s Harvest would like to thank the Quad City Community for donating the wrapped Christmas toys for the less fortunate children. Without the generosity of the Quad City Community this event would not be possible

King’s Harvest is a non-profit 501c(3) organization that serves the poor and homeless in the Quad Cities and is located in Downtown Davenport. They offer the following services to the less fortunate: hot meals, shelters, groceries, pet assistance, and various other emergency needs.

Rock Island County Immigrants Learning About Christmas in the U.S. PDF Print E-mail

36 adults and 23 children from Mexico, Togo Africa and Asia are going to learn about American Christmas traditions this week.

The Community Resource and Learning Center at Bethel Wesley Church will have a Christmas party on Thursday, December 13th. The families will enjoy a book called "Pete the Cat Saves Christmas" and then make gingerbread houses with frosting and candy. The children will receive Christmas presents from the Church members. A luncheon provided by the Rock Island Regional Office of Education will be served.

The family literacy program is a cooperative effort among Black Hawk College, the Secretary of State, Rock Island School District, the Regional Office of Education Lights ON and Bethel Wesley Church.  The program is part of the 21st Century Lights ON For Learning grant which provides English as a second language classes for immigrants who have children in Rock Island Lights ON schools.

The goals: learning about American traditions about Christmas, and parents doing and making things with their children. Parents are the children's first teachers!

The annual Rivermont Holiday Open House is open to the entire Quad City community!


Saturday, December 15th – 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Our campus is home to the historic Bettendorf Mansion - this is a fantastic opportunity to tour the Mansion while beautifully decorated for the season and learn about the history of the city.

The Bettendorf Mansion, constructed in 1915, features many of its original features and is truly breathtaking!

The LeClaire Office of Tourism Board is accepting resumes’ for the Office of Tourism Manager’s position until December 14, 2012. The position is a contracted position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to training and staffing at the LeClaire Information Center , communicating tourism information, promoting LeClaire tourism and sales of advertising opportunities. Applicants should have good public relations skills, as well as organizational and media skills. Tourism background is helpful but not required. The contract is available for viewing on the City of LeClaire website at www.leclaireiowa.gov. Automotive Central will have a Christmas fundraiser for King’s Harvest Ministries during the month of December. Automotive Central will donate $5.00 to King’s Harvest from every regular priced oil change. Regular priced oil changes are $29.95. Automotive Central has two locations at 200 S 14th Avenue in Eldridge, IA and 2607 Hickory Grove Road in Davenport, IA.
