BUTTERWORTH-DEERE WIMAN SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINES
For many years, the William Butterworth Foundation has demonstrated its commitment to education by funding student scholarships for graduating seniors in Moline School District No. 40 who are planning to participate in vocal or instrumental music programs and/or performing and/or visual arts. Applicants should apply online at www.molinefoundation.org. All scholarships must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. All reference letters need to be mailed with a postmark on or before Wednesday, March 15, 2017 to: The Moline Foundation 817 11th Avenue, Moline IL 61265. Requirements:
1. Four $2,000 four year scholarships renewable based on continued financial need and scholastic achievement (Total: $8,000 per individual)
2. Must live within Moline School District No. 40 boundaries
3. Must be a graduate from Class of 2017 or Community College student preparing to transfer to 4-year college or university
4. Minimum 2.5 grade point
5. Scholarship will be awarded based on financial need, potential for future personal achievement, a personal interview, and student’s extracurricular activities; especially in the field of art, music and community service
6. Submit: Transcript, 2 letters of reference, brief essay about yourself (200 words or less) “Tell us about yourself and how music and/or art has impacted your life.”
LEE MCALLISTER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE
Lee McAllister, known as "Mr. Mac", taught in the Moline schools system from 1948-1981. At John Deere Junior High School, he taught social studies and coached 7th grade track and basketball, and 8th grade football. He also taught drivers' education and was involved in a pioneering aerospace education program offered through Augustana College. Mr. Mac sponsored the Bible Club at John Deere for many years. The last ten years of his life, he served as Counselor at Calvin Coolidge Junior High School. The Lee McAllister Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by his family. Mr. Mac loved his students, loved teaching and coaching, and most of all, loved living in Moline. This scholarship honors his desire to help young people pursue education and become productive members of their community.

Requirements:
1. One $1,000 non-renewable scholarship will be awarded in 2017.
2. Must be a graduating senior from Moline High School Class of 2017 planning to major in education
3. Minimum 2.75 grade point
4. Selections will be based on financial need, potential for future personal achievement, abilities, school & community activities and a strong academic record
5. Submit: Transcript, two letters of reference, and a brief essay (200 words on “Why are you entering the field of education?”)
