Rock Island Library teen reading programs and free events are following the “Beneath the Surface” summer reading theme, so there’s plenty of treasure hunting, zombies and even a little “cake archeology” to dig into for teens ages 12 to 18.
The teen program officially kicks off Friday, June 7 with a free “Teen Feature,” which includes a classic movie, free popcorn, and the chance to both pick up the teen reading bingo card entry and cross off a square for attending a teen library program. The event takes place from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the Rock Island Main Library, 401 19th Street, Rock Island. Additional free events for teens this month include a:
· Cake Archeology program, from noon to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 2 at the Southwest Branch. Archeology is in layers, and so are cakes! Teens will learn some simple cake decorating techniques and build their own creations.
All teen events are for ages 12 to 18 and are free.
