The book, which Vaszily says is the first work of fiction associated with the September 11 terrorist attacks, was published last year, and a portion of the proceeds of the work will go to various charities. The book-signing, reading, and discussion will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.

The open house will feature architect David Chipperfield, who will present a detailed model to explain concepts and plans for the Davenport Museum of Art’s new facility. Davenport Museum of Art leadership will also be on-hand to receive input on programming.

Legion Arts Approaches Fundraising Goal
Legion Arts, the Cedar Rapids arts organization with a history of presenting big-name artists before they get big, has raised $42,000 since it announced in late February that it was facing a financial crisis. Event cancellations and dropping donations put the organization in a $45,000 hole, and it announced February 21 that it needed to raise $65,000 by the end of April to remain open. Legion Arts has introduced eastern Iowa to acts such as Ani DiFranco, Dar Williams, and Richard Shindell. The fabulous Holmes Brothers play on Wednesday, April 3. Nova 6 Snags First-Run Film
The Nova 6 cinema in Moline will be opening High Crimes this weekend, and the thriller by director Carl Franklin (Devil in a Blue Dress, the spectacular One False Move) will be the first time the theatre presents a first-run movie on its nationwide release date. While Nova 6 has introduced Quad Cities audiences to a variety of high-quality independent and foreign films since it opened last summer, those features often arrived months after their initial releases. High Crimes stars Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman.
