Memory Obscura is a 4 piece metal band with groovy breakdowns and thrash beat off time verses. We're are located in the Quad City area. The band is Nate Bloomquist, guitar; Jaren Allison, vocals; Nick Payne, drums; and Mark McVay, bass. Memory Obscura is the combination of two of Nates many projects; the industrial style alchemy of drum machines, samplers and 8 minute solos he was working on with Mark, and the hardcore metal he was producing with Nick. About a year ago, after a seemingly endless string of failed attempts to start an original metal band Nate found himself once again in need of a drummer. Nate and Nick had played together in Decisions of Agony and so Nick was a natural choice for a replacement. Nate and Mark already had an established cohesion from their previous collaborations, and so the concept for Memory Obscura was roughly born. The band went through several singers that didnt quite fit their sound until they encountered the original and aggressive style of Jaren. It was an instant fit. Memory Obscura has been evolving for over 2 years now. We started with a drum machine, a guitar, and a surround sound system. With the addition of a drummer and singer over the last year, we have finally broken into the QC metal scene. With our varied musical influences we try to bring an originality to our music that is aggressive with groove. With just a handful of shows under our belt we hope to continue writing new music, meet and play shows with raw ass bands, and keep livin the dream.
