The Reader's chief theatre reviewer, Thom White, saw and wrote about 52 area stage productions in 2011. I saw 39 and reviewed 12. Obviously, during our second-annual breakfast chat on the Year in Theatre, there was a bit to talk about.

My enjoyment of the Harrison Hilltop Theatre company’s Same Time, Next Year was inhibited by the moral issues at the core of the play.

I’ve watched numerous comedies at the Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse over the past decade, and I’ve never seen one that I thought would be offensive to most 80-year-olds. But until Oh Mama! No Papa!, I’d never seen a comedy that would be offensive to everyone but 80-year-olds.
