DAVENPORT, IOWA (June 1, 2023) — Common Chord’s Live at Five summer kickoff block party will move to Laborspace, next to Rozz-Tox and Ragged Records in downtown Rock Island. The event will still take place on June 2, 5-8PM.

Common Chord is thankful for the partnership of the Rock Island Downtown Alliance, the City of Rock Island, and the businesses and residents near 3rd Avenue and 21st Street for helping provide an alternate location on short notice.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 24, 2023) — On Friday, May 26, 2023 local musician Daniel Stratman will be débuting a song entitled "Johnny Loon," inspired by local gangster John Looney. To coincide with the release of the song, Bootleg Hill Honey Meads will be releasing a special bottle of blended barrel-aged mead with the same name. Stratman will be performing for the press at 4:30PM and a regular concert 7-10PM for the public.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (May 19, 2023) — Cedar Rapids Opera presents its third free Juneteenth community event with the public world premiere of Charlie and the Wolf this summer. This charming new opera by Dave Ragland Jr and Mary McCallum explores an imaginary meeting between jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker and classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This charming new opera reminds us we all play with the same notes — just interpret them differently.
