DES MOINES, IOWA (October 31, 2023) — The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative has announced the winners of the 2023 Healthiest State Early Care, K-12 School, Out of School, Youth Power, and Health Care Awards. The winners were recognized for their efforts to improve the physical, social, and emotional well-being of their employees and community during an in-person award ceremony on Wednesday, October 25, during the 2023 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count! Sumit.

The winners in the five categories are:

Early Care presented by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services:

Little Fry’s (Council Bluffs)

Out of School presented by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services:

Can Play (West Des Moines)

Health Care presented by Iowa Medical Society:

Health Trust Physicians Clinic/Madison County Health Care System (Winterset)

K-12 School presented by HealthPartners UnityPoint Health:

Riceville Community Middle/High School (Riceville)

Youth Power presented by Holmes Murphy:

Stomp Out Stigma (Ottumwa)

“The hard work done by our Annual Award winners serves as an example for the rest of Iowa to follow to ensure a healthier future for the state,” said Jami Haberl, executive director of the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative.

Each winner was awarded a monetary prize to continue their work focused on improving the health and wellness at their site. The remaining 2023 Healthiest State Annual Awards winners in the Workplace (Small, Medium, and Large), Individual Impact, and Healthy Hometown SM Powered by Wellmark categories were announced at the 2023 Workplace Well-being Conference on April 20, 2023.
