ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (May 9, 2024) — Six Augustana College students presented at The Mississippi River Research Consortium, held April 16-18 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Augustana-led presentations included research focused on microplastics in freshwater urban watersheds and land-use factors affecting erosion and entrenchment in the Goose Creek Watershed of Davenport, Iowa.

The Mississippi River Research Consortium is a private organization whose members want to encourage both pure and applied research on the water and land resources of the Mississippi River and its watershed. Members include scientists, river managers, teachers, students, and individuals from private business and the general public.

Presenting students included:

Fynnigan Greene, a Biology, Environmental Studies, and Women and Gender Studies major of Geneseo (61254)

Hannah McKoon, a Geology and Spanish for Professional Use major of Port Byron (61275)

Augustana College is a vibrant, welcoming liberal-arts college located on a 115-acre campus in the Quad Cities (pop 400,000) along the Mississippi River. Augustana, a residential campus, has 100 majors and programs, 160 student organizations, and 28 varsity athletic teams.
