MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 16, 2020) — On 15 March, The Southern Professional Hockey League out of Huntersville, North Carolina, announced its Board of Governors voted unanimously to cancel of the remainder of the 2019-2020 regular season and playoffs.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 12, 2020) — Per the SPHL:

“For the safety of our fans, players, team personnel and arena staff, the Southern Professional Hockey League today announced that due to concerns over the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, it has suspended the 2019-2020 season effective immediately. The SPHL and its member teams will continue to monitor developments over the weekend and provide an update on the 2019-2020 season in the near future.”

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (March 4, 2020) — The Quad City Storm is thundering into the nine final games of the regular season with two goals in mind; making the playoffs and reaching the $100,000 mark in their donations to the community.

Currently, The Storm are in a four-way battle for one of the final two playoff positions in the SPHL. This weekend, they face two of the other three teams in the aforementioned battle and with a winning weekend will be in a playoff position.

 

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (January 22, 2020) — Tuesday, January 28, the TaxSlayer Center will be open to the public from 10AM–7PM for the Storm’s Hockey Fights Cancer Ice Painting. Quad Citizens are encouraged to come to the arena to paint on the ice the names of loved ones who have fought cancer in the color that symbolizes the cancer they fought. Painting is free and the Storm will be providing paint, brushes and everything needed for painting names on the ice. 

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (January 21, 2020) — The Storm game that was cancelled Saturday January 11, 2020 as a result of a winter storm has been rescheduled to April 1, 2020. The game will be played against the Peoria Rivermen at 6PM at the TaxSlayer Center. 

 

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (January 8, 2020) — Yesterday, the Storm and RIA Federal Credit Union presented a check in the amount of $4525 to Honor Flight of The Quad Cities. The money was raised through the Storm’s Nickelodeon Night game on December 27 and a game worn Ninja Turtle jersey auction, both of which were sponsored by RIA Federal Credit Union.

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (January 7, 2020) — Storm forward Connor Fries has been named the SPHL’s Warrior "Player of the Week.’  It is the first player of the week honor for a Storm player in franchise history. Per the SPHL:

"The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced that Connor Fries of the Quad City Storm was named the Warrior Hockey/SPHL Player of the Week for December 30-January 5."

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (December 16, 2019) — The Stanley Cup returns to the Quad Cities for the first time in four years as the Storm celebrate Radar’s first birthday Friday, December 20, at 7PM.

The TaxSlayer Center doors will open to the general public at 6PM and the Stanley Cup will remain on display on the arena concourse until the start of the third period.

 

BETTENDORF, IOWA (November 27, 2019) The Quad City Storm looked a little green during their game against Peoria on Friday — in a good way. As part of their annual John Deere Night, the Storm wore specially-designed John Deere jerseys that were later auctioned off to raise money for United Way of the Quad Cities.

 

MOLINE, ILLINOIS (November 20, 2019) — This Friday, the Quad City Storm rekindle the Cold War on 74 versus the Peoria Rivermen for John Deere Green Out Night! Fans are encouraged to wear Deere gear to "green out" the TaxSlayer Center.
