Wartburg College Recognized for Developing Leaders for Public Purpose

WAVERLY, IOWA (June 14, 2024) — Wartburg College was one of only 25 schools nationwide and the only one in Iowa to earn a Carnegie Elective Classification for Leadership for Public Purpose.

466 Wartburg Students Named to Winter/May Term Dean's List

Georgia Nissen of Eldridge, Iowa, Awarded 2024 RJ McElroy Graduate Fellowship

WAVERLY, IOWA (May 28, 2024) — Recent Wartburg College graduate Georgia Nissen has been selected as one of two students to receive an RJ McElroy Graduate Fellowship.

Nissen, of Eldridge, Iowa, will receive up to $36,000 over three years as a fellowship recipient. This fall, she plans to pursue a doctorate in physics at Florida State University.

Rachel Green of DeWitt, Iowa, Honored with Iowa Broadcast News Association (IBNA) Award

WAVERLY, IOWA (May 3, 2024) — Rachel Green of DeWitt, Iowa, was recognized at the Iowa Broadcast News Association (IBNA)'s annual conference in April.

Green who received third place in Public Affairs.

KWAR is advised by Pam Ohrt and Knight Vision News is advised by Ron Johnson. Lucas Wendland is the broadcast engineer. Wartburg student media is under the guidance of the Wartburg College Department of Journalism and Communication, chaired by Penni Pier.

Mia Lopez of Bettendorf, Iowa, Presents Research at Annual IINspire Conference

WAVERLY, IOWA (March 11, 2024) — Mia Lopez presented her summer research, "Polymer-based Gene/Drug Delivery Nanoplatforms for Pancreatic Cancer," at the annual Iowa Illinois Nebraska STEM Partnership for Innovation in Research and Education (IINspire) conference at Iowa State University in Ames.

Rachel Green of De Witt, Iowa, Among Wartburg College Students Honored at Annual Iowa College Media Association Awards

WAVERLY, IOWA (February 28, 2024) — Rachel Green was one of 29 Wartburg College students to be recognized for their work with student media at the annual Iowa College Media Association Awards.

Green, of DeWitt, Iowa, received first place in Best Short Video Documentary.

KWAR, the student-run radio station, received the Audio Excellence of the Year Award.

Brody Condon of De Witt, Iowa, Accepted into Wartburg College's Teacher Education Program

WAVERLY, IOWA (February 26, 2024) — Brody Condon has been accepted into the Wartburg College Teacher Education Program.

Condon, of De Witt, Iowa, had to demonstrate effective reflective components in teaching and complete several other requirements to be considered for the program.

Admission to the Teacher Education Program allows students to begin professional education courses in their field.

Local Students Among 58 Wartburg College Students Receiving Diplomas

WAVERLY, IOWA (January 23, 2024) — Wartburg College awarded diplomas to 58 students during December Commencement on Sunday, December 10.

Jackson Bevans, of Davenport, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.

Samuel Kissner, of Milan, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.

Nile McLaughlin, of Eldridge, graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.

Mya Jansen of Muscatine, Iowa, Inducted into Wartburg's Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society

WAVERLY, IOWA (October 26, 2023) — Mya Jansen of Muscatine is one of 22 Wartburg College students recently inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma honor society.

Phi Eta Sigma is the oldest and largest freshman honor society. A student must achieve a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 and be in the top twenty percent of their class by the end of the first year.
