DES MOINES, IOWA (May 3, 2024) — HF 2568 has been signed into law by Governor Kim Reynolds in a ceremony at the Iowa Statehouse. The bill was championed by the Iowa Bicycle Coalition, AARP Iowa, researchers at the University of Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center, and bike shops and clubs across Iowa. It extends critical protections to benefit everyone who uses crosswalks, including all forms of pedestrians, cyclists, and people using any other mobility device or personal conveyance.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 11, 2024) — The Iowa Bicycle Coalition has announced that HF 2568 passed the Iowa Senate unanimously without debate and will be sent to the Governor Kim Reynolds for signature. The measure previously passed the house in February with a large majority.

CORALVILLE, IOWA (March 13, 2024) — Registration is now open for the Iowa Bicycle Coalition’s ride series occurring in May and June to help local cyclists prepare for the RAGBRAI. The Pigtails Ride, Bacoon Ride, and Big Rove Ride are hosted by the Coalition and occur on some of Iowa’s favorite trails. These family-friendly events include food, drinks, and fun for the entire biking community.

DES MOINES, IOWA (February 19, 2024) — BMX racers and cycling enthusiasts will come together on Wednesday, February 21, 8AM, at Ewing Park, 80/35 Track Parking Lot, 1701 E McKinley Ave, Des Moines, to announce their plans to launch a capital campaign to fund an indoor public Olympic-level BMX track and cycling park in Des Moines. The indoor track will be a resource for community wellness and promote access to sports and recreation.
