The Neverly Brothers at the Ohnward Fine Arts Center -- April 20.

Saturday, April 20, 7 p.m.

Ohnward Fine Arts Center, 1215 East Platt Street, Maquoketa IA

Offering a thrilling salute to one of the most exciting chapters in music history - the birth, near death, and resurrection of rock 'n’ roll - the gifted musicians of the Neverly Brothers headline an April 20 concert event at Maquoketa's Ohnward Fine Arts Center, treating fans of classic tunes to a "magical history tour" in their stage spectacle A Rock 'n' Roll Evolution from Elvis to the Beatles.

With their repertoire boasting unforgettable songs from 1955 to 1965, the first half of the Neverly Brothers' concert pays tribute to the music created by America's rock-'n'-roll pioneers of the '50s – which by 1960 had become a distant memory, but became the inspiration for the next wave of young rock bands from Britain. The second half of the show then pays tribute to the 1964 British Invasion bands that re-recorded the forgotten '50s-era American rock music, along with lesser-known early 1960s rhythm-and-blues songs, and recorded their own originals, pulling rock 'n' roll from the edge of extinction by re-inventing and re-energizing it for a new generation.

Their concert experience designed to leave patrons singing, dancing, and thoroughly entertained, the Neverly Brothers pride themselves on not being an “oldies cover band,” nor a tribute act. Instead, they are a unique, exciting, nationally touring retro-rock revue. Dressed in period-perfect matching suits from each era, and playing electrifying versions of all your favorites, these rockers have a look and a sound that will make you feel like you are witnessing rock history unfold before your very eyes and ears. Their song sequence and selection, accompanied by narrative historical footnotes, will illustrate how the music and energy of the 1950s American rockabilly, rock-'n'-roll, and R&B pioneers set the stage for and influenced the adventurous young bands of the 1964 British Invasion movement. The Neverly Brothers' repertoire consists of show-stopping renditions of early hits by Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Dave Clark Five, and many other artists who shaped music history through a thrilling 10 years of classics.

The Neverly Brothers brings their A Rock 'n' Roll Evolution from Elvis to the Beatles stage event to Maquoketa on April 20, admission to the 7 p.m. concert event is $15-28, and more information and tickets are available by calling (563)652-9815 and visiting OhnwardFineArtsCenter.com.
