PRINCETON, IOWA (September 8, 2021) — Princeton Recreation Trails is hosting their 8th annual 5K Walk and Run, “I’m running to raise money for the Mississippi River Trail and to eat ice cream,” says Tara Flesch, Race Director. “We are partnering with Community Visioning volunteers to encourage residents and visitors to provide input on concept designs and Scouts will be downtown selling ice cream and popcorn!”

Princeton Recreation Trails Inc improves pathways to increase safe and healthy opportunities for all. “Our primary goal is to bring a separated Mississippi River Trail to Princeton,” explains Flesch. “The fundraiser will help accomplish this goal and the event is endorsed by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative for taking charge in improving the health of Iowans”.

The Princeton 5K will take place on Friday, October 1, 6PM. The course features 3.1 miles of out and back on City roads. The walk and run begins and ends near Go Fish Marina Bar and Grill in Princeton, IA. Water will be available on the course. Post-race refreshments will be provided following the race.

Runners, walkers, and trail-lovers are encouraged to sign up on GetMeRegistered by searching Princeton 5K. The $30 registration fee includes a race T-shirt, medal, and post-race refreshments. The top three male and female will receive a trophy.

Participants are strongly encouraged to practice social distancing and follow the CDC COVID-19 guidelines. Please follow Princeton Recreation Trails, Inc. on Facebook for more information.
