WASHINGTON DC (April 18, 2024) — The Des Moines International Airport (DSM) will receive $2.2 million from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Terminals Program to fund the construction of new terminal areas. The Airport Terminals Program was established in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which Senator Charles “Chuck” Grassley (R-Iowa) supported in 2021.

“The Des Moines International Airport, being the largest airport in Iowa, is critical both for passenger travel, and for moving our products to market,” Sen Grassley said. “I backed the bipartisan infrastructure law with Iowa’s future in mind and recognizing the need to set the wheels in motion on important projects like this one. I’m glad our airports continue to see a return on that investment.”

Background:

This $2,200,000 Airport Terminals Program grant is separate from other IIJA awards announced over the past several years. It will support DSM’s construction of several common use terminal areas to improve accessibility and efficiency.
