COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (April 3, 2023) — The Niabi Zoo Foundation invites the public to party with a purpose on Thursday, May 4, at the Rust Belt in East Moline. This event will feature entertainment by renowned show band, Maggie Speaks.

Guests will enjoy an unforgettable evening of music, while also contributing to the vital work of the zoo. The concert will feature special appearances by the zoo’s ambassadors, and an up-close look at the organization's master plan, providing a unique and educational experience for attendees.

Funds raised from the concert will support the zoo's animal care, education, and conservation programs. With your help, we can create new habitat and continue to provide a safe and nurturing home for our animal residents, as well as educate and inspire others to make a positive impact on wildlife conservation efforts.

This year, the Niabi Zoo is celebrating its sixtieth birthday, marking an important milestone for the organization. Since its founding in 1963, the zoo has been dedicated to its mission of promoting wildlife conservation through education, research, and animal care.

Tickets for the “Niabi Zoo Birthday Bash” are now available for purchase online at niabizoofoundation.com/birthday-bash. General admission tickets are $20.

“We are thrilled to host this concert fundraiser to support our ongoing efforts to protect and conserve wildlife, especially as we celebrate our sixtieth anniversary,” said Krisan Steiger, Chair of the Niabi Zoo Foundation. “We hope the community will join us for a night of music and fun, while also supporting a great cause to allow the zoo to continue creating memorable experiences for families now and generations to come.”

Doors for the Birthday Bash open at 6PM and the show begins at 7PM. Attendees for this event must be ages 21 and up. Additional event details and updates can be found at niabizoofoundation.com or on the Niabi Zoo Foundation Facebook page.

About Niabi Zoo:

Niabi Zoo originally began as a private zoo for people to see and enjoy exotic animals. In 1963, the property was purchased and deeded to the community by Pattie S Wiman. Today, the Zoo remains a destination to get up close to rare animals from around the world, but we are much, much more.

Niabi Zoo serves an education and conservation center that actively works with other programs on field conservation, coordinated breeding programs, and community education to make sure the incredible creatures we share this planet with will stay part of the natural world for generations to come.

About Niabi Zoo and Forest Preserves Foundation:

The Niabi Zoo Foundation and Forest Preserves Foundation supports the institutional advancement of Niabi Zoo and the Forest Preserve District of Rock Island County and their initiatives for the conservation of wildlife and habitats, environmental education, as well as animal-care best practices.

The Foundation provides private supplemental financial support through active fundraising efforts for the acquisition, construction, replacement, or improvement of Forest Preserve District facilities such as zoological exhibits, development of habitat for wildlife, educational programming, or strategic conservation initiatives outside the realm of funds currently available to the District.
