The Goldman family has donated six properties in the 1600 block of Second Avenue to Rock Island Economic Growth Corporation. Stanley and Ann Goldman, owners of Hyman's Furniture Store, were honored Friday for their contributions to the community, including the recent property donations. The properties, valued at nearly half a million dollars, are slated to become a business incubator and housing.

Beginning on July 10, Iowa Public Radio (IPR) will be expanding its locally produced Triple-A music and jazz offerings on the Studio One network, creating a new rhythm-and-blues show hosted by Bob Dorr and adding jazz with Curt Snook, also heard on the IPR classical network. IPR will also bring back folk music with Karen Impola and national music programs including The Thistle & Shamrock, Mountain Stage, and etown. After learning of Birdies for Charity's shortfall of charitable funds, the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend made a $20,000 grant to help the organization and its 500 beneficiaries.
