La Création du monde Op 81a by Darius Milhaud

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS — (April 19, 2024) Looking for the best entertainment this weekend? We are performing one last time this season as part of Orchestra Iowa's Essential Earth performance!

Milhaud’s La Création du monde paints a vibrant, jazzy picture of the world’s genesis, and features live performance by Ballet Quad Cities. Richard Scofano, Argentinian composer and performer, joins to perform his La Tierra Sin Mal, exploring an indigenous myth of a world without evil in a blend of classical and folk styles. The program culminates in Beethoven’s Symphony N° 6, the ‘Pastoral’, a sublime depiction of nature’s beauty and tranquility.

AND on Tuesday morning, the dancers will perform with the Carnegie Hall Link Up: The Orchestra Moves For 1,200 Cedar Rapids students.

Thank you to everyone that attended a performance or outreach program this past season. We are looking forward to seeing all 45,000 of you next season!
