Grammy-winning jazz pianist Laurence Hobgood will be in the Quad Cities March 13-19 for a one-week residency as part of Quad City Arts’ Visiting Artist Series.

Laurence Hobgood has enjoyed a multi-faceted and dynamic career, including roles as a collaborator, composer, arranger, producer, educator and recognition as a multiple Grammy nominee and 2010 Grammy winner. He has a passion for introducing young people to jazz music.

Quad City Arts will host a unique event for this residency. Attendees will enjoy an up close and personal encounter with the artist during “An Evening with Laurence Hobgood” 6–8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 4215 Elmore Ave., Davenport. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Proceeds benefit Quad City Arts programming. The event is sponsored in part by West Music. For tickets, call Johanna at 309-793-1213, ext. 107.

Hobgood will present at Quad City area schools for junior high, high school, and community college students, and will give workshops to students in Davenport’s Creative Arts Academy. He will also give informal performances at the Moline Public Library at noon on Thursday, March 16 and at the Bettendorf Public Library at noon on Friday, March 17.

Hobgood will appear with Polyrhythms for their Third Sunday Jazz series. The performance will be 6 p.m. Sunday, March 19, in the Redstone Room at River Music Experience, 129 N. Main St., Davenport. The 2016-2017 season of the Visiting Artist Series features nine performing arts residencies, including a theater artist, musical ensembles, and tap dancers, and runs through April 2017.
