COAL VALLEY, ILLLINOIS (March 7, 2023) — A group of Niabi Zoo animals, ranging from Amur Leopards to Fennec foxes, have received the first and second rounds of the Veterinary COVID Vaccine, produced and donated by the pharmaceutical company Zoetis.

COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (February 14, 2023) — One of the zoo’s most popular and beloved residents, Twiga, a sixteen-year-old female Southern Nubian Giraffe, passed away on January 3 from a degenerative neurological disease of the brain and spinal cord. “Twiga was an extraordinary member of our zoo family’ beloved by her keepers and our guests alike,” says Zoo Director Lee Jackson. Twiga came to the Niabi Zoo in 2007 from the Palm Beach Zoo at the age of one.

COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (October 28, 2022) — Niabi Zoo is proud to announce that an encore of our 4th Annual Animal Art Show and sale will return this weekend during Boo at the Zoo! Original art by a whole host of animals will be available for purchase, on zoo grounds, 10AM-3PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Hours will be adjusted in the event of rain. Entry is included with the price of admission (free to members).

COAL VALLEY, ILLINOIS (October 4, 2022) — The Niabi zoo is excited to announce the arrival of our two newest inhabitants! Beni and Togo, two African Red River Hogs. Beni and Togo are brothers and where born in a zoo here in the US. They are both just over two years old and are growing fast. Red River hogs are found in the rainforest and wet savannahs of west and central Africa. Full grown red river hogs can weigh as much as 250 lbs.

GENESEO, ILLINOIS (August 26, 2022) — The Geneseo Chamber of Commerce announces its popular Cruise the Canal golf cart tours of the Hennepin Canal for 2022. The Cruise the Canal tours allow tourists in our area to enjoy one of Illinois’ State Parks and a second chance to experience the tours surrounded by fall foliage.
