CHRISTIAN CARE RECEIVES GRANT

Rauch Family Foundation I supports Domestic Violence Shelter

Rock Island - Christian Care, a Rock Island non-profit organization committed to ending homelessness and violence, has been awarded a $1,500 grant from the Rauch Family Foundation I, Inc. Funds are designated for Christian Care's Feeding the Hungry program.

"Christian Care is grateful to the Rauch Family Foundation for its support of our community meal site for men, women and children, which oftentimes is the first introduction to our residency programs, said Dr. Elaine Winter, Executive Director. "Because of the Rauch Foundation, we will be able to serve more than 50,000 meals again this year, and a number of homeless men and abused women and children will take advantage of our shelter services."

Christian Care is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operating two facilities?a domestic violence shelter for women and children and a rescue mission for homeless men. It serves homeless individuals, victims of domestic violence, veterans, men and women coming out of prison, and those with mental illnesses.

For all those who need a meal, Christian Care's Community Meal Site is located at its Rescue Mission at 2209 3rd Avenue, Rock Island. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays Monday through Friday, and for breakfast and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. CHRISTIAN CARE RECEIVES GRANT Genesis Health System Supports Domestic Violence Shelter

July 31, 2012 - Christian Care, a Rock Island non-profit organization committed to
ending homelessness and violence, has been awarded a $1,500 grant from Genesis
Health System. Funds are designated for Christian Care's Women's Empowerment
Program.

"Christian Care is grateful to Genesis Health System for its support of our services
for women," said Dr. Elaine Winter, Executive Director. "Most women who have
experienced domestic violence and abuse were subjected to such ordeals early in life.
This grant will go toward helping women to successfully and permanently transform
their lives. We would be unable to provide the services needed to begin the healing
process without the faithful support of donors like Genesis Health System."

Christian Care Announces Award First Congregational Church, UCC Supports Christian Care

Rock Island, IL - First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ has awarded a grant to
lend financial support for technology upgrades at Christian Care's rescue mission and domestic
violence shelter. "We are thankful that First Congregational Church in Moline has made it
possible for Christian Care to upgrade its software," said Dr. Elaine Winter, the organization's
executive director. "Men and women who come to Christian Care need our help. One way we
do this is by providing a computer for job searches, and software for these men and women to
complete their GED or college coursework. First Congregational Church's financial support will
enable us to upgrade our software needs for both clients and staff."

CHRISTIAN CARE OFFERS HEAT RELIEF

Stay Cool at Christian Care's Rescue Mission

Rock Island - Christian Care's Rescue Mission, located at 2209 3 rd Avenue, Rock Island, will accommodate those who need a place to stay cool this summer. Anyone is welcome at the Rescue Mission between the hours of 6:30 a.m., when breakfast is served, and 7:00 p.m., when dinner ends, as well as on weekends.

"Throughout its 96-year history, Christian Care has always been about serving others," said Dr. Elaine Winter, the organization's executive director. "We welcome anyone who needs to come in from the heat, especially during these periods when the temperature heat index reaches 100 degrees. Our primary desire is to care for those who are less fortunate and who need help."

Christian Care Announces Award - The Mary Iva Gittens Knouse Charitable Trust Supports Children's Program

Rock Island, IL - The Mary Iva Gittens Knouse Charitable Trust has awarded a $1,000 grant to lend financial aid to Christian Care's Children's Advocacy Program. "Christian Care greatly appreciates the Mary Iva Gittens Knouse Charitable Trust for its continued support of our services, especially for children," said Dr. Elaine Winter, the organization's executive director. "Our Children's Advocacy Program addresses the emotional and psychosocial needs of children?our silent victims?who are in need of therapeutic services. This grant from the Mary Iva Gittens Knouse Charitable Trust allows us to deliver life-changing mental and emotional recovery support for both residential and non-residential children. For this we are very grateful."

The Junior Board of Rock Island Supports Children's Program

Rock Island, IL - The Junior Board of Rock Island has awarded a $1,000 grant to lend financial support to Christian Care's Children's Advocacy Program. "We are thankful that the Junior Board of Rock Island has made it possible for Christian Care to provide therapeutic services for children," said Dr. Elaine Winter, the organization's executive director. "Children who come to our domestic violent shelter with their mothers need our help if they are to grow up to be happy and healthy with prospects for a bright future ahead. We are very grateful that the Junior Board of Rock Island shares our vision to help the 50 or more children who will reside at Christian Care this year."

CHRISTIAN CARE RECEIVES GRANT

Scott County Regional Authority Supports Rescue Mission

Rock Island - The Scott County Regional Authority has awarded a $7,000 grant that will help Christian Care make needed improvements at its rescue mission and domestic violence shelter in Rock Island by enhancing residents' safety, comfort, immediate environment, and confidentiality.

"This grant will enable us to not only protect the safety of residents and those who take meals at the rescue mission, but will provide comfortable seating and an improved environment for them, as well as for other visitors," said Dr. Elaine Winter, the organization's executive director. "We are especially grateful to the Scott County Regional Authority for selecting Christian Care as a grant recipient during this spring grant cycle, and sharing our desire to empower both the homeless and survivors of domestic violence to make positive changes in every aspect of their lives."
