PEORIA, IL (09/08/2017) (readMedia)-- As Hurricane Irma bears toward South Carolina, the Illinois National Guard is sending communications equipment and personnel to McEntire Joint National Guard base, Columbia, South Carolina, in preparation for Hurricane Irma Response. The 182nd Airlift Wing's Mobile Emergency Operations Center, or MEOC, will help provide local jurisdictions and other government stakeholders a modern quick response interoperable communications platform.

PEORIA, IL (09/07/2017) (readMedia)-- As Hurricane Irma bears toward Florida, the Illinois National Guard has sent additional personnel and equipment to assist in the Atlantic coast region.

At 10:30 a.m., Sept. 7, two C-130 cargo planes and 14 personnel from the 182nd Airlift Wing based in Peoria, Illinois, took off to support relief and response efforts in the wake of Irma.

Derrick Stoddard of Le Claire, Iowa, an infantryman with Company A, 1st Battalion, 178th Infantry Regiment based in Bartonville, Illinois, won several awards, including the individual multi-gun champion, during the 2017 Illinois Army National Guard's Adjutant General Match at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, Aug. 20.

Staff Sgt. Joe Bastian, a sniper observer/controller/trainer with First Army's 1st Battalion, 335th Infantry Regiment and former active-duty sniper wants to help change that.
