WHITEWATER, WI (06/26/2014)(readMedia)-- Brooke Marriott from Moline, Ill., has made the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater dean's list for the 2014 spring semester.

These students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.

The Registrar's Office reports 2,813 students were selected for the dean's List for the spring semester. About 12,000 students are currently enrolled at UW-Whitewater.

  • Maxx Hubbard, a freshman undeclared major from Sterling, Ill.

  • Grant Rosenboom, a freshman biology major from Bettendorf, Iowa

After finishing third in the national championships last year, the Warhawks have high expectations this season and intend to offer a strong challenge to each opposing team.

"The team is going to get better as the year goes on," said Tim Fader, the team's head coach. "We have to keep our eyes on the prize, every team has its struggles but we'll power through them. We are going to continue to push expectations and raise the bar, it's what we're known for and it's what we pride ourselves on."

When the wrestlers are not under the spotlights, they give back to the community. They helped build the new Children's Center on campus and they volunteer for the Salvation Army in Janesville every Thanksgiving.

The team holds preseason-training sessions with new and returning players to increase performance before the regular season begins.

These students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.

"We are very proud of all our students on the Dean's List," said Beverly Kopper, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. "The Dean's List signifies academic excellence on our campus, and we pride ourselves on attracting those types of highly motivated students."

WHITEWATER, WI (12/07/2012)(readMedia)-- The Warhawk women bowlers, ranked 14th in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 20 preseason poll, have finished in the top five in every competition this season. Head Coach Leann Eimermann is excited to see how far her team can go.

"This is the first season that we have a chance to make it to the NCAA Nationals because the women have the experience and talent needed to compete with the top teams in the nation," Eimermann said.

Coach Eimermann looks for solid performances from her players, including Kayla Betz, a junior biology major from Sterling, Ill.

"Bowling competition is a little unique as all three divisions compete together. Currently there are about 70 schools and about five total Division III programs involved," said Eimermann.

UW-Whitewater traveled to the Track Kat Klash Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. The Warhawks finished second in a field of 16.

The Warhawk bowlers will compete Jan. 11-12 in the Mid-Winter Classic in Jonesboro, Ark.
