DES MOINES, IOWA (April 9, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Revenue announced today conditional penalty relief for tax-payers required to make estimated payments.

DES MOINES, IOWA (April 9, 2020) — On March 23, Governor Kim Reynolds announced a new Iowa Small Business Relief Program to support the state's small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program offered small-business relief grants, administered by the Iowa Economic Development Authority. It also offered businesses a tax-deferral of sales and/or withholding taxes due and waiver of penalty and interest, administered by the Iowa Department of Revenue. 

DES MOINES, IOWA (March 19, 2020) — The Iowa Department of Revenue today extended one income tax withholding deposit due date for certain tax-payers. The change, prompted by COVID-19, is designed to provide flexibility to disrupted businesses. The extension is a result of an order signed earlier today by Director of Revenue Kraig Paulsen.

DES MOINES, IOWA (January 27, 2020) — With tax-filing season upon us, the Iowa Department of Revenue is reminding Iowans of the many resources available and recent changes at the Department that can assist taxpayers with filing their tax return.

The Department will begin processing returns at the same time as the IRS on January 27. This is because Iowa tax-payers are required to provide their federal return with their Iowa return. Iowa income-tax returns are due on April 30.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 4, 2019) — The Iowa Department of Revenue is issuing updated income-tax withholding tables for 2020 to continue to align Iowa withholding with recent changes in state tax-laws.

For individuals, this means that employers will be reducing the amount of Iowa tax withheld from employees' paychecks, beginning January 1, 2020, increasing take-home wages for individuals.
