WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (December 10, 2024) Holiday shopping and gift-giving can often be challenging, but even more so when shopping for a person living with dementia. Depending on the stage of disease, some well-intentioned gifts may no longer be appropriate or practical for the person.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 12, 2024) — During National Family Caregivers and National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in November, and all year round, the Alzheimer’s Association offers free resources to families caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Caring for those living with this disease poses special challenges for family caregivers, and no caregiver should face this disease alone.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 7, 2024) — The Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter is offering a new support group specifically for young adult caregivers with the help of local volunteer Libby Pederson who is currently a caregiver to her father who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s at just sixty years old. The support group is for dementia caregivers aged eighteen to fourteen, and it is held virtually via Zoom every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30PM.

DAVENPORT, (September 18, 2024) — On Saturday, September 14, nearly 550 Quad Cities area residents participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Vibrant Arena at The Mark. Walkers helped raise $85,000 to fund the care, support and research programs of the Alzheimer’s Association. Fundraising continues through the end of the year, so there is still time to donate at alz.org/walk.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (August 20, 2024) — The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Quad Cities area residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on Saturday, September 14, at Vibrant Arena at The MARK in Moline, Illinois. Registration begins at 8AM, and the two-mile Walk begins at 9:45AM after the Opening Ceremony.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (July 3, 2024) — The Alzheimer’s Association celebrates yesterday’s US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) action to approve Kisunla™ (donanemab, Eli Lilly) for the treatment of people living with early symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease, which includes mild cognitive impairment and the mild dementia stage of Alzheimer’s disease

DAVENPORT, IOWA (May 6, 2024)  The Alzheimer’s Association held their annual Memories in the Making event on Friday, May 3, and raised a record-breaking $48,000 to help fund Alzheimer’s and dementia care, support, and research. Over 225 people attended the event which was held for the first time at the Vibrant Arena at the Mark.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 29, 2024) The Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Memories in the Making event will be held on Friday, May 3, 5:30–10PM, at the Vibrant Arena at the Mark in Moline. All proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association and go towards Alzheimer’s and dementia care, support, and research.

DAVENPORT, IOWA (April 4, 2024)  The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Quad Cities area residents to attend their annual Memories in the Making event on Friday, May 3, 5:30–10PM, at Vibrant Arena at The Mark. Paintings created by locals living with Alzheimer’s or dementia in the Memories in the Making Art Therapy program will be available to bid on in a silent and live auction.
