DAVENPORT, IOWA (December 1, 2020) — The Sauk war leader known to the American settlers as Black Hawk fought and lost a war in 1832 as he tried to retake his homeland. His grave was robbed in 1839. The history books say his remains were destroyed in a museum fire in 1853 at Burlington, Iowa. The history books are wrong.

Reading is cool!  The Davenport Public Library is holding their annual Winter Reading Program from January 3 – February 11.  Readers of all ages are invited to stop by any Davenport Public Library location to pick up a reading log.  Those who read 5 books will be entered into a drawing for one of the grand prizes!  This year, grand prizes available are two hand-knitted blankets from DPL’s Fireside Knitters, or a Kindle Fire HD.
