Conversation with Thomas Jefferson Wednesday, Oct. 28 1:30 - 3:30 pm

Mr. Jefferson will be speaking on the importance of maintaining history as a primary subject to be learned. Mr. Jefferson is portrayed by Bill Barker, who has been bringing this Founding Father to life for over 30 years. Mr. Barker appears regularly at Colonial Williamsburg, and has performed as Jefferson at Monticello, The White House, the Palace of Versailles, and throughout the United States, Great Britain and France. You may also recognize him as the face of Thomas Jefferson in the Visitor's Center videos at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C.
Cost for the event is $5.00 per person, which includes light refreshments, time for questions and answers, and the unique opportunity to meet Mr. Jefferson. Call 563-324-1944 to reserve your seat!

World Adventure Series 2015 - 2016: Hot Spots: America's Volcanic Legacy

Hawaii is one of America's hot spots, but so are the frozen summits of the Aleutian Islands, and high, alpine parklands in the Pacific Northwest. Yellowstone's famous geysers and hot springs and the largest rapid in Arizona's Grand Canyon share something in common: volcanism! High, violent volcanoes punctuate the Pacific Northwest's Cascade Mountains. Life is returning to the base of Mt. St. Helens, but its 1980 eruption still scars the land. Visit the spectacular, towering giants along America's ring of fire: Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood and Mt. Shasta. Hike to the desolate, sulfur-scarred landscape of Mt. Lassen's 'Bumpass Hell', where the inferno that powered its last eruption still lurks below the surface.

Everyone's A Critic IS BACK!

Everyone's favorite event is back! Don't miss out on this opportunity to experience the 6 DAY ONLY event!
This exciting evening starts with a screening of a documentary that has never before been seen on the Putnam's National Geographic GIANT Screen. No one will know what movie they will see until it is being played that night. After the film, everyone in the audience will get the opportunity to become a "critic" by rating their experience. The film that scores the highest will be brought back for a full run on the National Geographic GIANT Screen in 2016.

A bonus to the 2015 version of Everyone's A Critic is Linda Cook, a professional critic with the Quad-City Times and a regular contributor on Paula Sands Live. At various shows Linda will give tips on being a critic and what to look for while watching a film. All Putnam audience "critic" reviews will be sent to the films' documentary producers to provide them with audience perspective.
Admission is $7.00 for all ages and includes the film, a small popcorn and small soda.

Iowa's Forgotten Highway 6

What do Bonnie & Clyde, Jesse James, and the secret author of Nancy Drew® stories have in common? U.S. Route 6 in Iowa takes two-lane motorists from Davenport on the Mississippi to Council Bluffs on the Missouri. Built in one day by 10,000 farmers and businesses across the state, Iowa's Route 6 is part of the second longest historical transcontinental highway in America. River to River: Iowa's Forgotten Highway 6 guides viewers on a nostalgic classic car journey through yesterday's soda shops, filling stations, general stores, drive-ins, and roadside attractions.  Experience the sights and sounds, the people and the places that the four-lanes have forgotten...before they are gone forever.

River to River is a documentary by Emmy® nominated and award-winning filmmakers Kelly & Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall Films in the Quad Cities. The film was inspired by the Historic Highway 6 research and photography of David W. Darby and funded in part by grants from Humanities Iowa, Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area and the National Endowment for the Humanities through the documentary's fiscal sponsor, The Iowa U.S. Route 6 Tourist Association.

Q&A with the filmmakers and others will follow the film presentation.

In an adventure of giant proportions, Tiny Giants 3D reveals the astonishing lives of the smallest of animals. Using the incredibly immersive power of specialist 3D cameras, audiences are transported in a very intimate way into another world to experience the titanic battles these creatures face to survive.
A chipmunk in a wild wood and a grasshopper mouse in Arizona's scorched deserts are both forced to grow up fast when they find themselves alone for the first time. Only by using their ingenious superpowers can our heroes not only stay alive, but also become masters of their universe.

"That thing out there... That is no dinosaur."

About the film: Located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus Rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it's up to a former military man and animal expert (Chris Pratt) to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists from an all-out, prehistoric assault.
