6th Annual Quad City Engineering and Science Council and the American Society of Civil Engineers Battle of the Bridges Competition!

 

Coming to the Putnam in February is the 6th Annual Battle of the Bridges Competition! This is a construction competition between teams of 1-4 people who spend 3 hours designing and building a model bridge which is then tested for structural efficiency in the Grand Lobby. On Friday, February 8 from 11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. the session has high school teams. On Saturday, February 9 from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. the session has elementary and middle school, college and family. The public is invited to view this competition for free located in the Putnam's Grand Lobby area.

The event is sponsored by the Quad City Engineering and Science Council and the American Society of Civil

Meet John Weis, NASA Aerospace Education Specialist, on Thursday, January 24!

 This FREE forum is from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. John will talk about NASA, it's programs and future opportunities. Attendees will even have an opportunity to see authentic moon rocks! Currently stationed at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL, John is the state education liaison for Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee.
All ages welcome - don't miss this special opportunity!

Are you ready to experiment, examine and experience? Then Putnam Explorers is for you! One Sunday afternoon each month, we'll gather together and embark on a fascinating science adventure. These sessions are packed with hands-on fun that is sure to excite and engage the emerging scientist!

Spring Season:
January 6: Build it Bash!

February 3: Blast Off!

March 3: The Universe Within!

April 7: Eggstravaganza

Purchase each season package of four classes for $35. Individual class sessions may be purchased for $10. Putnam members pay $7/class session or

Explorers Jr.!

Let Putnam Explorers Jr. program take your young scientist on an adventure in science through stories, songs and exciting hands-on activities that are sure to spark curiosity and engage the imagination. Each month we'll dabble in a different dimension to bring science to life with engaging experiments, fun activities, games and surprises!
Putnam Explorers Jr. is a once-a-month science club for kids Pre-K through 1st Grade (must be age 4 by September 30). We'll meet one Saturday each month from 9 - 10:30 a.m., October through April. 

Spring Season:
