The Davenport Public Library is pleased to announce a new café opening at its Eastern Avenue Branch (6000 Eastern Avenue) and Fairmount Branch (3000 N. Fairmount Street) libraries. Bayside Café is the new café at the library and will have a special celebration on Monday, September 17 at the Eastern Avenue Branch & Tuesday, September 18 at the Fairmount Branch, both at 11:30 a.m.

The special celebrations will include Davenport Public Library's official mascot, Libby Librarydog; Rascal from the Quad Cities River Bandits; a bounce house; book signings by local authors, Jill Esbaum and Linda Smith Kortmeyer; the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors; and elected officials.  Bayside Café brings patrons and residents of Davenport the unique flavors of Bayside's food and wonderful smoothies.

Bayside Café is owned by LaTisha Howlett of Bayside Smoothies and More, located at 2730 West Locust Street and is a concessionaire at the Quad Cities River Bandits.  The shop will open daily, Monday through Saturday, 30 minutes before the library opens and will close 15 minutes before the library closes.  For a list of library hours, visit www.davenportlibrary.com.

Don't be afraid!  The Davenport Public Library wants to take you on a Spook Walk.  Join us on Saturday, September 15th at 2:00 p.m. on the front porch of the Main Library (321 Main Street) for some paranormal activity.  On the Spook Walk you will visit over half a dozen sites rumored to be haunted. This walk is approximately 2 miles, so comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water are recommended.

7th ANNUAL TEEN BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Experience the excitement of local teen musicians live on stage as they perform for the top spot on Saturday, July 14, at the Eastern Avenue Branch Library (6000 Eastern Avenue).  The battle is headlined by the legendary, "Cadillac of Rock & Roll" Coupe DeVille at 11:00 a.m., followed by the battle at 1:00 p.m.

Get your picture taken between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. with the library's large 25' Libby balloon (paid for by a grant provided by the RDA), and then see the picture on the library's and Libby's Facebook pages!  Have fun with games and activities while enjoying some food, sold by the Hy-Vee Grill from 11-2!

Libby the Library Dog might be around for some pictures as well.  Don't miss out on this rockin' good time at your Davenport Public Library!

Tap your toes!  Move your feet!  Get up and dance to the live jazz music of Don Estes and the Prairie Ramblers at the 25th Annual Bix Porch Party!  Enjoy the block party featuring live jazz, entertainment, food, and more on Thursday, August 2, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (music starts at 11:30) at the Main Street Library (321 Main Street).

Enjoy FREE music, entertainment, popcorn, and lemonade.  The library's Teen Volunteer Council will sell hotdogs and soda at bargain prices to help raise money for teen items at the library!

Bring lawn chairs and blankets, and wear your dancing shoes as we block off Main Street for some good old-fashioned fun.  Come for the music and enjoy the old-timey carnival of popcorn, lemonade, and more!  This FREE event is for people of all-ages.

Celebrate the Davenport Public Library's, Dream Big READ! Carnival as the kickoff to the Summer Reading Program at the Fairmount Branch Library (3000 N. Fairmount Street) on Saturday, June 2, between 12 and 4 p.m. Be sure to get your picture taken with our new 25' Libby "the Library Dog" balloon (weather permitting)!

First sign up for the Summer Reading Program, then stay for the carnival!  We'll have loads of games, including: Bowling, Arctic Fishing, a Duck Pond, and more - including a dunk tank (weather permitting). Kids can earn tickets at all of these fun games which can be used to purchase prizes from our prize booth.

The Davenport Public Library's Libby balloon and mascot costume were made possible by funds provided by the Riverboat Development Authority.
