CAMBRIDGE, ILLINOIS – On Tuesday, September 19th, Calan, the revivalist sound of Welsh traditional music, will be performing live at a private residence in Cambridge, Illinois.

Cambridge will be one of 12 North American destinations on a tour built around the May 12 release of Calan’s fourth album, Solomon, on the Sain Records label with its collection of tales and tunes from the rich folklore of Celtic Wales, sung in both English and the band’s native Welsh.

HB 2897 will help provide comfort for veterans transitioning back to civilian life

MARION (Aug. 25, 2017) – Governor Bruce Rauner today signed HB 2897, legislation to increase access to service dogs for veterans through the Helping Paws Program. This expansion will add veterans to the program-eligibility pool and allow the training of service dogs to assist veterans with physical or mental health ailments.

CLIVE, Iowa, Aug. 25, 2017 – A Davenport man said he checked his winning lottery ticket several times before he started to celebrate.

Kevin Sickler claimed a progressive jackpot of $23,358.90 in the Iowa Lottery’s “Jumbo Bucks Progressive” InstaPlay game, a $5 ticket. InstaPlay is a new lottery product, known as a scratchless scratch ticket.

Davenport, IA – On Aug 31st, approx. 100 Veterans, including 2 WWII veterans, will travel to Washington, D.C to visit the monuments dedicated to their service and sacrifice. This is the 9 th Honor Flight of the Quad Cities that area Hy-Vee stores have sponsored.

On Wednesday, Aug 30th, Hy-Vee is hosting a pre-flight dinner for these veterans, a guest and their guardians.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – High speed kart racing action returns for the 23rd year to the downtown streets of Rock Island with the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix powered by Mediacom. The world’s largest karting street race will offer two days of high-speed racing through the city streets Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2-3.

MOUNT CARROLL – Timber Lake Playhouse will present the much acclaimed and Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Million Dollar Quartet, Friday, September 8th through Sunday, September 17th in Mount Carroll. The production, directed by Courtney Crouse, will play a total of eight performances over two weekends.

The 33rd annual Rock Island Labor Day Parade is scheduled on Monday, September 4, 2017, starting at 9:30 a.m. Over 120 entries have registered to participate in what is an annual celebration of the City of Rock Island and the surrounding community.
