Loebsack Leads Call for “Dollars and Data” to Improve Rural Wireless Coverage

Washington, D.C. – At a recent Communications and Technology Subcommittee hearing, Congressman Dave Loebsack led the call for a direct investment in expanding both fixed and mobile broadband, especially in rural areas. He also called for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to provide more reliable data to map and target where additional broadband access is needed.

St. Ambrose Alum, Community Leader Willie Barney Will Address Freeman Pollard Minority Scholarship Breakfast on March 28

DAVENPORT — Willie Barney — a former St. Ambrose University football player whose scholarship-assisted education helped him become a powerful advocate for minority neighborhoods in Omaha, Nebraska — will provide the keynote address at the 2017 Freeman Pollard Scholarship breakfast on Tuesday, March 28.

The Fifth Annual Freeman Pollard Breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. at the Rogalski Center on the SAU campus. A dialogue on diversity will follow from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m.

Danielle Manna selected to receive Iowa State University College of Human Sciences scholarship for student teaching

AMES, IA (03/22/2017)-- Danielle Manna of Geneseo, IL (61254) will receive a scholarship from the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences to support a student teaching experience. Manna is a senior studying Elementary Education. Students who are selected to receive this scholarship may use it to offset the cost of living while gaining relevant experience to advance their career.

Red Cross calls for type O negative and AB blood donors

MADISON, Wis. (March 22, 2017) — The American Red Cross is issuing a call for type O negative and AB blood donors to make an appointment to give after severe winter weather in some parts of the country caused about 250 Red Cross blood drives to cancel in March, resulting in more than 8,500 uncollected blood donations.
