Dates: January 3 – February 11

Reading is cool!  The Davenport Public Library is holding their annual Winter Reading Program from January 3 – February 11.  Readers of all ages are invited to stop by any Davenport Public Library location to pick up a reading log.  Those who read 5 books will be entered into a drawing for one of the grand prizes!  This year, grand prizes available are two hand-knitted blankets from DPL’s Fireside Knitters, or a Kindle Fire HD.

Incoming Rep. Mike Halpin Doubles Down on Boss Madigan

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) announces the following community college districts will receive emergency funding: Illinois Eastern Community Colleges, Kaskaskia College, Lake Land College, John A. Logan College, Rend Lake College, Shawnee Community College, and Southeastern Community College. A total of $3 million will be distributed equally among the seven districts, with each district set to receive $428,571.42 in financial support for essential operations.

Bill to restore congressional scrutiny of expensive regulations reintroduced

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), along with Senators Todd Young (R-IN), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Joni Ernst (R-IA), and 23 other cosponsors, reintroduced the “Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny” (REINS) Act as one of the first bills filed in the 115th Congress (S. 21).
