WASHINGTON - Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley today raised concerns that the process for vetting emails for Freedom of Information Act requests at the State Department may be compromised.

In a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, Grassley asked about a dispute between State Department Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) specialists and the Office of the Legal Advisor attorneys.  A memo from the inspectors general at the State Department and the Intelligence Community indicates that FOIA specialists believed that certain information in the emails should have been redacted prior to being released because it was classified, but the reason for redacting the material was apparently later changed by Office of Legal Advisor attorneys before release

Grassley cited media reports indicating that some State Department employees, "Have notified the Intelligence Community Inspector General that department attorneys involved in reviewing Secretary Clinton's emails appear to have a conflict of interest, or at least a reason to question their objectivity."

The Intelligence Community Inspector General recommended that the intelligence community be a part of the discussions and act as a final arbiter regarding the release of possible classified information.  The inspectors general consider this recommendation to be "unresolved."

The text of Grassley's letter to Kerry is below.  A copy of the signed letter is here.

Fathom Events and Nerdist Industries Debut the Next Generation of Horror on the Big Screen for One Night
Cinemark Davenport 18 with IMAX 3601 E 53Rd St Davenport IA 52807
Tickets are available now at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. For a complete list of theaters, click here.

DENVER - August 18, 2015 - From the producer of "Scream," Cary Granat, Chris Hardwick's Nerdist Industries, and musician/producer Steve Aoki, "Nerdist Presents: The Hive," is a cross-genre sci-fi horror thriller set to turn the contagion genre on its head. "Nerdist Presents: The Hive," a Fathom Premiere, will debut for a one-night event in select U.S. movie theaters on Monday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m. (local time). Directed by Dave Yarovesky, it features a soundtrack from Aoki, and stars Gabriel Basso ("Kings of Summer," "Super 8"), Kathryn Prescott (MTV's "Finding Carter," "Skins"), Jacob Zachar ("Greek") and Gabrielle Walsh ("Vampire Diaries," "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones").
Tickets for "Nerdist Presents: The Hive" can be purchased online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com, or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in nearly 500 movie theaters through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).
"Nerdist Presents: The Hive," which "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn calls "The most horrifying love story ever!" taps into the anxiety and emotions of a post-online world to create a parable for the digital age. When Camp Yellow Jacket has fallen into chaos, teen counselor Adam wakes up in a boarded up cabin with no memory of who or where he is. His only clues as to what's happening are the notes he's scrawled for himself on the walls and the disturbing physical transformation he must overcome. The only memories he has aren't his own, yet those memories may be the key to Adam's survival.
"The Hive is RIDICULOUSLY fun," said Chris Hardwick, CEO of Nerdist Industries. "Yarvo has managed to tell a horror story in a fantastic new way that is super creepy and intimate, yet ultimately unfolds into a much larger movie. I'm so excited that we could help bring to the world! I just want people to be able to see it ASAP."
"Nerdist has created something truly innovative with this production," Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. "We are pleased to be a part of bringing Nerdist Industries' first feature to the nation on the big screen."
"We're excited to partner with Fathom Events to share this unique project with the world," said Adam Rymer, president of Nerdist Industries and Legendary Digital Networks. "'The Hive' is sure to captivate audiences in an exhilarating and terrifying way."

Old Capitol Opera presents WEST SIDE STORY with six performances August 21-30, 2015.

Featuring apprentice artists ages 14 and up, and local professional teaching artists.

Old Capitol Opera will be presenting Leonard Bernstein's iconic musical West Side Story! This production is a culmination of OCO's second annual apprentice boot-camp. Following the overwhelming success of last year's Chicago the Musical, professional singers and eager students come together after an intensive two week musical boot-camp rehearsal, to bring you a full production of this tragic tale of star-crossed lovers.  Leading roles are played by local teaching artists, with an amazing ensemble of talented students ages 14 and up. Directed by Megan O'Brien, Conducted by Don Hughes, Choreographed by Doug & Jill Beardsley and Tallis Strub; this show will be presented at the highest level! Tickets are $22-$35 and are available online at www.coralvillearts.org, by phone at 319.248.9370, and in person at the CCPA box office (1301 5th Street) and Coralville Recreation Center (1506 8th Street).

OCO's  Apprentice boot-camp is a 2 week intensive musical theatre camp held every August that combines stage rehearsals for West Side Story, with classes that pertain to the well-rounded performer. These classes include Vocal and Acting Masterclasses, Stage Combat, Stage Improvisation, and Yoga that are taught by local experts and professional teaching artists who also play the lead roles in the production. These classes are folded into the intensive choreography, chorus, and stage rehearsals of West Side Story. We provide a fully integrated experience that can be established in a young performers resume!

Old Capitol Opera is an education based non-profit  organization that focuses on music and performance education. We hire local professional performers, and utilize their expertise in order to teach the Iowa City/Coralville community. We believe in providing payment to our orchestra members, in the hopes of establishing monetary worth for experienced and educated musicians. Our mission is to provide an educational collaboration between local professional performers, and enthusiastic community members!
