Arts Alley Improvements Complete; Holiday Market Starts

BETTENDORF, IOWA (November 16, 2024) — Celebrate the official opening of Arts Alley, 1719 2nd Ave, in downtown Rock Island on Wednesday, November 20, 3:30-5PM. The unveiling reveals the more than $500,000 in improvements to the outdoor event space, which include large-scale murals, decorative lighting, retail vendor stalls and more.

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird Opposes Biden-Harris Mandate that Jeopardizes Lifesaving, Small-Town Fire Departments

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 16, 2024) — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has announced that she led nineteen other states in a comment letter opposing a new Biden-Harris mandate that will shut down small-town, volunteer fire departments.

Approximately 70% of the nation’s fire departments are made up of volunteers; in Iowa, that number is more than 90%.
