REG’s Chad Stone, former Iowa Biodiesel Board chair, elected as national officer
(ANKENY, IOWA) – An Iowa biodiesel producer was elected as an officer of the National Biodiesel Board this week, reinforcing the leadership position of the state nationally.
Members of the National Biodiesel Board elected Chad Stone, of the Ames-based Renewable Energy Group, as secretary of NBB.
Stone is the immediate past chair of the Iowa Biodiesel Board.
“The year ahead is important as we will be in a vastly changed political landscape, and we’ll be working hard to continue to grow the volumes of biomass-based diesel,” Stone said. “I’m optimistic for the future of NBB, and for America’s Advanced Biofuel. I look forward to serving as an officer in this important national organization.”
Also serving on the board of directors are soybean farmer Ron Heck of Perry, Iowa and Steve Nogel of AGP, a biodiesel producer with plants in Sergeant Bluff and Algona, Iowa. The election took place during the NBB annual fall meeting in St. Louis, Mo. on Nov. 16.
Heck serves as treasurer of IBB, representing the Iowa Soybean Association on the board.
“The fact that Iowa is the leading biodiesel-producing state is reflected in the makeup of the national organization’s leadership,” said Grant Kimberley, executive director of IBB. “This will be a critical time to maintain the momentum of this American manufacturing industry, and Chad’s leadership will help guide the national effort.”
The National Biodiesel Board is made up of 15 governing board members, including four executive officers. The Iowa Biodiesel Board is a trade association representing the biodiesel industry in the state.
