Quad Cities, USA: With only 21 days remaining in the Red Kettle Campaign, The Salvation Army is extremely concerned about Kettle Donations as well as Angel Tree donations.
Major Gary Felton notes, “We have seen a significant decrease in bell ringers this season, both paid and volunteer. Unless someone is there ringing that bell, we usually don’t receive donations. We are currently only filling about half of our shifts.”
The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities has recently been propositioned by an anonymous donor that if they are able to fill 250 of their two-hour volunteer shifts on December 10th and 17th, they will make a $5,000 donation. This donor realizes the need for bell ringers in helping to reach the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign goal.
Major Gary adds, “Less giving and volunteers is of great concern to us. These donations allow us to do our work and all year round here in the Quad Cities. The Red Kettle Campaign raises 60% of our annual budget and still has a long way to go. The monies collected provide shelter, food and other basic needs to families and individuals in crisis.”
Right now, The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities is at $273,920.00 of the $815,000 (34 percent).
